I've a friend in Tasmania. She's going to see a New Zealand tribute show put on by The Pink Floyd Experience. I'm in Kansas City and am going to see TAPFS on the 7th of November. I've heard recordings of both acts and tend to favor the TAPFS efforts. Accordingly, I recommended she attend a TAPFS show soon as they come around.

But further research is disheartening. I don't find any evidence that the Aussies have performed anywhere near their native soil. Have I missed something? Does the TAPFS show perform in or near Australia?
And I said, "Well, Your Honor... She wanted to play poker. And I tried to oblige, but didn't know what fell under the category of beastiality. Considering my mental state, it was 2 months of Solitaire Confinement... "

Hello Cosmo!

Bob in Victoria BC Canada here. TAPFS as we know it now has not played Australia. However their start was in the land of Oz. If you go to their web site www.aussiefloyd.com you can read their history there. As far as I know there are no plans to tour Australia (that I know of anyway). But I also have been watching this band from New Zealand and they are good. Glad top see you here (again??) I remember your name from somewhere...was it on the Aussie site or maybe www.pinkfloydonline.com/ that is run by Dan from "Which One's Pink" in LA. Another great Floyd tribute show.

Anyway....welcome to the site and keep talking, it's good to have lots of folks to ramble to!

Hiya Bob:

Yap, I've been all over the aussie web page. I "discovered" these guys on the PBS station here in KC last year. Was all excited because I thought it was a Floyd show at first glance so I settled in to watch and listen. Alas, it turns out to be the Australian Pink Floyd Show. Well, i thinks to myself. better than not bad. So i watched a little longer to learn some particulars, found their website and browsed for some time. Too late to catch their show last year, but made plans to keep tabs and see them this year. I'm taking my daughter to the concert, coming up in 2 weeks.

So TY for the welcome! I'll be about from time to time... oh... i'm not known on too many other boards. maybe someone else out there is a Cosmo wanna be... hmmm...

Cosmo... you will be blown away by a live show if you were impressed by the PBS broadcast.  I hope that you are able to sit near the front!!!

Welcome aboard and give us your review of the show!!!

Count on a report... don't count on pics, i haven't the equipment to get it done...

so... bit of background: I saw Pink FLoyd in Wichita Ks back in 1973. They were touring DSOTM in advance of the studio release. Personally, I think this is the smartest thing bands can do. Other bands that have done that very thing have realized tremendous success with their album releases principally because all the kinks are worked out by the time they get to the studio.

I digress... PF in '73, my 'indoctrination' into the floyd. Form that night on, I started collecting and immersing myself into the FLoyd way of life. Saw them again in Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, May 26th, 1988. Was Utterly Blown Away. I didn't remember them being soooo damn good 15 years prior. Better visuals, better sound, better all around. Actually, that show ruined me. I was an avid concert-goer. I realized, even while at the show, that I'd never see another concert to rival that spectacle. Well... there was only one other show to top it, which I saw at Arrowhead again in june 1994. It was the Division Bell tour.

The Momentary Lapse tour was fabulous and they performed numerous pieces from DSOTM. Division Bell... omg... they played a 90 minute set, took a break, came back and did the entire DSOTM. Shangri-la... I don't remember '73 being that good... of course, they were fleshed out with additional members this time around... so...

i have been to other concerts. And, I have to admit, they were enjoyable experiences, but still nothing to compare to the FLoyd performances. I do have to own up to my second favorite concert experience after PF... Saw Godsmack August 11th in 2001. Those guys utterly kicked ass.

I'm looking forward to the Aussie show. Taking my daughter with me... She's 15 and I'm fortunate that she shares an interest in PF and the music. But then she's fortunate that she has a dad she can take to avenged sevenfold... again i digress...

So absolutely count on a report from me...

i'm so damn mad...

... I deliberately edited out this piece of whine... we get what we get from life, and this is no different... nick knows the content, and i appreciate his sentiment...

Needless to say, I'll not be going to the TAPFS show tomorrow night...

... and i'm adding this bit for the positive... there is a chance, remote as it seems right now, that i can catch TAPFS in St. Louis on the 24th... not a bad drive... 3 hours... it's a friday and part of a 4 day weekend for us in the states... in many ways it's actually a better deal... weekend, instead of work night... much better venue, i've heard the uptown theatre limits the stage effects that can be employed, so an arena offers much more head room... nice drive to another fun city, me and my daughter could both do with a getaway... we can over-night and have a relaxed return to kansas city... so that's what i'm holding out for... and if it doesn't come to pass, well... there's always a shot at travelling to England *snicker* and failing that, there's always next year...

*sigh*
