cevor review to follow...long day today on 2 hours sleep!
from a different tact and strictly "off the cuff"...
I realized on the way to the show that I had never driven this far to see a concert
in my life! Sure, there's the connection to Ian, and I was meeting a friend from PFO in person for the first time-rolanddoe is his screen name (did the same thing in Florida with my friend whong). Four hours gave me a bit of time to think about it as I drove alone. Considering present circumstances, this can be a good/bad thing...kind of like the interweb! It struck me how fortunate I am to have Ian as a friend and the privileges it afforded me. It's not as if I knew anyone in the band before the Florida trip. Besides the things they may have heard from last years tour...

. Yet I've been welcomed like an old friend, given complete freedom to wander around the venues wherever I pleased and taken in like a member of the family. Despite the work and pre-show activities, every band person I saw took time to say hi, shake hands or give a hug and kiss. What a lovely group of people.
Watching this team at work also made me think of all I dreamed of for Childhoods End. Using the Aussies as a benchmark, we aspired to equal and surpass them, little did I know, production wise, how far we were away. This also made me miss the excitement of responsability I had then, I miss that sorely. What a flashback to see Ian and the band perform Nobody's Home. He only had the chance to do it once before, with additional props for One Of My Turns...when we did The Wall. Watching him on the big stage leaves me wanting for more of the "old times".
The other extremely interesting thing in the appreciation vein, was meeting my friend Mark for the first time. We'd become friends on PFO and spent many hours instant messaging. He's a kindred spirit and great friend. He seemed amazed that I invited him to the show. I didn't understand that, he's one of the most intelligent people I know and brilliant in musical knowledge. It's fascinating to see the human condition, ie: what we think of ourselves and how people perceive each other, effects our self-image. Bottom line; I couldn't have gone to the show with a better person. Mark (and John/whong) are lifetime friends of mine, I'm very fortunate, very fortunate indeed.
Due to the fact that I'm lazy and will cut and paste this on PFO, I'm going to let my other great friend from these endeavours to remain nameless. Suffice it to say that she's helped me through the darkest of days, like yesterday, in my recent past. Hanging out in Florida made me miss her on Friday *leaves out cliche Floyd song* very much. Thank you so much for your friendship hon, you're truly amazing.
Oh yea! There was a concert to!! Seated around 18th row center, the full spectrum of the experience was fantastic. Very odd to see Ian projected on the big screens. Listening to the people around me was as sweet as the performance from the stage. This has happened at all three shows, people raving to each other. Laughing with glee like children each time they heard a familiar song begin. I just smiled to myself. Much like each time someone spoke to me as if i was a member because of the pass I wore. Very flattering, each time i responded the same way, gushing about how great the band is and how fortunate i was to be invited to these shows.
I keep going back to the same theme, so i think I'll stop rambling here. Thanks again to Ian, H-C, rolanddoe, whong and the whole Australian Pink Floyd Show cast and crew. You're the best group of people I could have in my life right now, I guess sometimes things do happen for a reason. My pictures are in custody of the site admin...lol...they sure aren't as good as Alex's!!
Greg
p.s. outside of these experiences, thanks C, you're a good man...*sends more vibes*
