TOPIC: It really is a tribute to Pink Floyd

It really is a tribute to Pink Floyd 5 years, 1 month ago #1

I was just thinking that it really is a tribute to Pink Floyd, the band and its musical legacy, that the Aussies have found such world-wide success.  Think about it, they've got a huge wonderful show that regularly tours parts of Europe and North America.  It appears to be an immense machine that is successful because of the talents of the band members & crew- AND the music of Pink Floyd.  It is that combination which is successful.

Would the same musicians & crew have the same success playing the works of KISS, or The Beatles, or Fleetwood Mac, or Led Zeppelin????  I really don't think so.  Are there other acts that tour as widely and fill venues playing another single group's music?  I don't know of any.

We may not like the term "tribute band". But the Aussies are a true tribute to Pink Floyd.

Very true. I know people knock tribute bands but until Pink Floyd start touring again (which I doubt), without them the music would never be heard live and that would be a great loss.
Just my thoughts.

I know there are other tribute bands out there, including tributes to Kiss, Led Zep ETC, these bands don't have the success mainly because  the band members don't put anything back into the show or play the music of there chosen tribute poorly, the Aussie have ploughed so much back into the show and spent so much time in perfecting the art of playing Floyd's music, this is why they are finding great success and selling shows out, soon you are going to find it hard to get tickets for fore-coming tours just like the real Pink Floyd.

Good observation.  Those other groups do not provide worthy tributes.  The Aussies are a worthy tribute to the legacy of Pink Floyd.
