What are your worst experiences of idiot audience members?

On the whole the crowd in Portsmouth were very good (see below), but we had:-

1)  10% arrived during the first track - lots of shuffling about to accomodate them
2)  One couple left during Comfy - whaatttt ! (but at least from the end of the row)
3) One group of about 4 got up in the middle of Run Like Hell, from the middle of a row, presumably taking it literally and making for the car park - but why did you come and why not go just before the encore.

I have to say that during one of the tracks (I am sorry, whilst I love the music I am rubbish at putting names to tracks) where the music goes silent several times, the Guildhall audience were sublime - not a murmur from anyone.  You could cut the air with a knife - it was like being at a classical concert.  AND there was rapturous applause at the appropriate times.  So, despite my comments above, they were one of the better audiences. In Bournemouth, which is not far away, the audience are a bit cold I think (and that's my home turf).  Cold, but at least polite - the MEN last year take the biscuit for being the worst audience - present company excepted I am sure, but all they did was talk, phone, drink, get up, sit down - anything but listen to the music.

I know, we have to ignore them because to do otherwise spoils our enjoyment even more.

There is a point to the question - I think there are trends, and it would be good to hear what different venues are like, not that most of us have the luxury to choose other than being as local as possible.

Hi there. I'd previously relayed this unfortunate account of two idiots who were behind me in this Dublin Gig (which otherwise had a fairly good crowd) - Two guys behind me were clearly on a mix of too many chemicals. They were spilling beer over my mates and on the third time they were asked (nicely) to calm down just a bit they offered to "break faces" Completely out of keeping with the vibe of the evening and I was embarrassed as there were visitors from the UK of my parents age in front also just trying to enjoy the good vibes. I apologised on Ireland's behalf for the behaviour of those "chavs" (as you guys in the UK call them)

On the whole I think that this years Dublin crowd behaved better than last years ?
You know ,we have idiots in all our communities. So don't take responsibility and apologise  for fools at The Point ,they were outweighed considerably by friendly audience members.

Thanks Bigdog, nice of you to say so. I'm glad to hear that the overall perception from visitors was good for the Dublin gig's audience. Hopefully my mates and I can team up with members of the forum who are dropping over to next year's gig.

I'm sure that I have just been lucky at the MEN but the last 3 times I've seen the Aussies there I have not had any problems with crowds there, in fact this last one I was hardly disturbed at all. Having said that I am worried about the Roger Waters Gig on Monday at the MEN.  It is a bank holiday so all the piss heads will have been at it all day so we are guaranteed to have problems with them >
Are we nearly there yet?

Headache, you are so right about the Bournemouth audience (my home turf too). Last year they just sat and listened. Nothing wrong with that I suppose, but there was no buzz from the crowd. Too polite and too well behaved = dull!

Lets see what they are like next week?
