Tonight was my first AussiePF gig of 2007 and I have to say, I was not fully prepared for the dramatic leap forward since their appearance here in April last year. That show was impressive, but tonight was in another league all together, incredible! The Windsor Hall was packed, with only the side balcony's having empty seats and as always the majority of the crowd was aged 30 +. I'm afraid I didn't take a camera with me, so no pic’s for you – sorry.

The set-list was standard 2007 fare, same as the majority of this years UK shows, with ‘Pigs’ during the second half, instead of ‘Sheep’ and no film cameras here either, so I guess that rules out a Bournemouth DVD.



This show was outstanding, an extremely polished performance from the band, with no noticeable problems, apart from a volume level glitch on Steve's mic at the start of ‘Money’. As Nick has said previously, “they have raised the bar so high” with this years performance. The atmosphere they created on stage was astonishing and Ola & Amy singing the ‘The Great Gig in the Sky’ was just sublime – it makes my eyes water every time I hear TAPFS perform it, which is something Mica Paris couldn't do last year at the RAH, with David Gilmour. The audience tonight loved it and the applause started before the girl's had even finished! And ‘Comfortably Numb’, well what can I say – still one of my all time favourites and tonight's rendition was as spine tinglingly good as ever (thanks Damien & Steve), will I ever tire of this piece? (Larry, the glitterball was bang on time tonight , so no probs there).

What else?…  Skippy was on stage during ‘One of These Days’, together with a baby Skippy between the legs, didn't expect that! – we also had the Pig for ‘Pigs’, which was really cool. I'm not too sure about Mike's new pink saxophone though – juries out on that one! However, the addition of Ian Cattell’s vocals really makes a difference - a HUGE difference. I had a friend with me who saw them last year and when Ian started singing he turned to me with a look of pure joy and said, “Who is that guy – he’s amazing?” Testament enough I think that Ian has perhaps added the final piece of the jigsaw?

One of the most noticeable differences for me this year, was the light show - much, much more going on, really ‘glitzy’, totally engaging and very ‘PULSE’ like. I really enjoyed ‘Nobody Home’ with the addition of the props and ‘Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun’ was truly inspired – the didgeridoo sound effects and the pictures of Uluru were a fantastic update to this early Floyd song and a marvellous connection to the band's roots. I could go on about it, but most people reading this will have seen the show, so you know how good this was.

I am fortunate enough to have seen Pink Floyd previously, both with and without Roger Waters, as well as shows by DG and RW. The Australian Pink Floyd Show for me are a natural progression of the ‘FLOYD’ phenomenon and they really do deserve to be counted alongside the original band. The way they have adapted ‘Set the Controls’ just shows how confident they have become and are now willing to project more of their own personalities into the performance. This show was meticulously presented and the band's attention to detail is exceptional, if you like Floyd, you cannot fail to be moved by this years show – this is live music at it's very, very best.

So, the Aussie guys go from strength to strength and who knows how far they will go? – I just hope they don't give up for some considerable time to come. I even thought the crowd this year were a lot more responsive, they didn't sing too much but they did give the band numerous standing ovations – so maybe the southerners are learning to enjoy themselves a bit. If we can get them to sing next year, it will be fantastic – let's see eh?

Wow !  Just when you thought the guys couldn't put any better show  on than the previous years ... they do,  bigtime !!!  Totally excellent evening.  Setlist including Pigs and the first appearance of Mr.Piggy  ;D  Got the Bruce's and Sheila's and a 'bunch' of Floyd for part 2 as well. Seems like the [s]whining[/s] observations on the other thread about the crowd being a bit 'reserved' has hit home somewhere also.  Certainly a way more lively crowd than I've seen in the last 5 years in [s]sunny[/s] rainy Bournemouth but still room for improvement !
