TOPIC: Vegas......

Vegas...... 4 years, 7 months ago #1

After attending 2005 show at The Aladdin (est 7,000 in att.) and awestruck I'm hoping my 3rd time will not be dissappointing.  The Joint inside The Hard Rock roughly holds 1100 with a much smaller stage for effects.  Wondering why they opted for a small venue when we have a vast array of larger settings for crowds and optimal performances ???. The Joint is a great place with  intimate seating, just lacks the size for a major stage production. I'm sure tix sales wouldn't have been a problem. Much behind the scenes we shall never see.  But I'm sure I'll still be blown away!  10th row dead center and can hardly wait.

Sounds like it will be a good show.  I saw Aussie a few years back at a small venue, probably holds less than 2000, maybe even less and 1500.  It was just such a cool feeling.  You feel so close to the band and the music sounds amazing, like its wrapping around you because it has no where else to stretch to.  I'm a guitarist so I could tell sound was different.  It was more clear and vibrant.  The effects were good too because they used a lot of smoke and lights which just radiated off the walls and eachother.  The smoke just floated around you until you felt like you were in the middle of something crazy.  Its definitely toned down from a regular size venue seeing as how they couldn't use the same stage equipment (except for the inflatables!). All in all, a different type atmosphere, but for that you may enjoy it more.  Hope you have a great time.

These smaller intimate venues are always really good to go to. My guess is that the band really enjoy them too for the same reasons.

I bet they really feed off the crowds energy.  They are pretty much as close as they could get.  They can see everyones expressions and see whos cheering...I know I'd love that feeling.

They've also been known to laugh at me... or at least the gals doing the vocals... not that I'm paranoid.  I think that they got a charge out of watching my wife (we were row 3 centre with some friends) trying to get control of me....  :

My 1st experience was 2004 at The House of Blues and I was astonished.  Just thinking that with the success in the states these guys would rather showcase in front of a larger audience.  The Joint is a spectacular venue with premium sound.  Maybe you were right about wanting to get the audience wrapped up in the atmosphere.  Will certainly report back with a review.  Thanks
