TOPIC: The Wall 30th Anniversary in 2009

The Wall 30th Anniversary in 2009 4 years, 7 months ago #1

I know its probably too early to post this, but I have been thinking about it and how big it could potentially be.  2009 marks the anniversary of something very big...The Wall.  As we know, The Wall was released in 1979, thus marking its 30th birthday in less than 2 years away.  Do we need to get a petition going for "The Wall: Live"?  I've seen Dark Side 100 times between Roger Waters and Aussie, amongst others, as well as Animals.   Now I'm not complaining, I love seeing those in their entirety, but for me, The Wall would be something new.  I think The Wall would be something really spectacular to see.   I also think by 2009 Aussie will build up more credibility as a band and have a bigger following and will rake in more money to allow to spend for set design and stage props.   Imagine having the wall being build like it was in Berlin in 1990, or even the shows Pink Floyd did in the early 80's?  Imagine seeing Ian Cattell perform "Nobody's Home", as briliantly as he does now, but with actually acting out the story to the complete theme of The Wall?  What do others think about this?  And H, has the band already been thinking about this possability?  If not, tell them Mark G is throwin his 2 cents into Mike Kidsons cork hat!!!

"How shall I fill the final places?
How shall I complete the wall?"

Well I agree completely, its long overdue.  In many ways its my favourite album probably because its where I started with Floyd - although the film was what did it for me, not the "obvious" single or the album to start.  Before that I could not get my head around the album at all.

Anyway, I digress.

I actually raised this on the other site when APF used to give personal responses on the forum.  Couple of years ago now.  Steve then said they would like to but had no concrete plans (no pun intended).  Their main concern was creating the Berlin concert at a price they could manage.  Aparently its technically challenging and expensive and dangerous if you get it wrong (I can see that !)  He also said they wanted to to it properly or not at all.

That was two years ago - I see they are double dating at some US venues this year - surely the cash is coming in enough now.

I think to be fair to them, they probably would want to do it as much as we'd want them to.  I'd like to see them bring Bob Geldoff on for that, but now I really am dreaming.

By the way, you have really depressed me - 30 bloody years.  Suddenly I realise 10 years got behind me (and another, and another).  Still if APF do the wall in 2009, I can die happy.

I don't think its too early, and I would put money on it that APF have already noticed the importance of that year.  What they will do, we'll have to see.
