Vegas review 4 years, 7 months ago #1

OK here it is folks and 1st off someone in either pr or management dropped the ball......and I can't tell you how estactic I was.  For a month now radio spots and ads have been promoting the show as "DSOTM in it's entirety".  When the boys stepped on stage and went into Shine On I figured Dark Side was maybe for the 2nd half...couldn't have been more wrong.  I was a bit skeptical concerning the size of venue and the possibility of a "watered down" show but with only the inflatables MIA everyone got their $$ worth and then some.  When I last saw them 2 years ago I didn't think they could get any better.....wrong again.  I could go on and on but let me recall the setlist (hopefully in order but don't hold me to it, I was in a daze most of the night!)

Shine On
Learning To Fly
Time
GGITS
Money
Us and Them
Set the Controls
Turning Away
Pigs
One of These Days
Take it Back
WYWH
Another Brick
Numb
encores
Hey You
Run Like Hell

Forgive me if I left anything out but that's pretty close.  A few highlights...the 3 girls were fantastic (one note though  coreograph needs a little work during Controls....a little bumping and looking at each other but nobody noticed )  Carl on soprano solo during Controls was AWESOME!!!!! He was great the whole night.  Ian and Damien were right on.  I did laugh when someone shouted Freebird in support of Jason's Skynyrd-ish look.  All in all a truely magnificant performance.  Looking forward to next year providing Vegas is back on the list.

No disco peel ball during Numb...sort of missed the effect.

gee....after reading it it does look a tad negative.  Sorry about that.....the show was one of the best I've seen performance wise (and I've seen well over 200 acts in 20 years).  Let me also comment about a another thread comparing The Aussie's to The Original's.  I saw Floyd in '87and '94, RW in '87, 2000 and also this past summer, which was remarkable in it's own right, but The Aussies commit to a performance because they want to be there which at times didn't seem to be the case with the others.  I would call them PF2 Minus The Drama.  Catchy name? If anybody reading this still contemplating buying tix for upcoming shows please do not hesitate.  You might regret it later on
