TOPIC: Denver, CO Show!

Denver, CO Show! 4 years, 7 months ago #1

Hi all.  I'm generally a "lurker" but seeing as how there's so few reviews (and none for the Denver show), I thought I'd go ahead and get registered and drop a review:

Firstoff, this is the 3rd show I have attended (Portland, OR 2005; Denver, CO 2006, and again in 2007).  This year was my favorite of the 3.  I think I remember reading that some of the stage props was missing for people, but they were all there for the Denver show!  Skippy was there, as was the Pig with the glowing eyes, and the all-important disco ball (I swear it was bigger this year than the previous 2 years) ooh and the lasers as well.  Anyway, the quality was top-notch, and included a new prop:  A one-person recliner-like chair for "Nobody Home".  Also, the version of "Run Like Hell" was a replica of the "Live" version sung on "Is There Anybody Out There" live album (the intro that Roger Waters uses).  Big roars of cheers during "Brain Damage" when George W. was displayed .

The show was friggon GREAT.  The venue was at the Wells Fargo Theatre in downtown Denver.  It was beautiful and much more improved over last year's venue.  The seats were only about 3/4ths of the way full, but very much into the Floyd experience.  The only real complaint I had was that most of the XL shirts were sold out.  From talking to a few other people there, they didn't have them from the get-go.  I was able to pick up a WYWH shirt (with Skippy, of course).  I was hoping to pick up a pair of hammer head shirts, but alas......sold out.....  Still no new DVD for sale, but that's how it goes.  I'll order it as soon as it becomes available.

To anybody who fears that the show has been "watered down", FEAR NOT.  Like I said, it was the best of the 3 I have attended so far.

As for the setlist (hopefully I have them all, and in the right order):

DSotM in it's entirety

**15 minute intermission**

Shine on You Crazy Diamond
Learning to Fly
Take it Back
The Turning Away
Set the Controls For The Heart of the Sun
Pigs (Three Different Ones)
Nobody Home
Wish you Were Here
One of These Days
Another Brick in the wall Pt 2
Comfortably Numb

**Encore**

Hey You
Run Like Hell

I do have pictures from my cell phone, however, I don't know how good the quality will be (like I said, it's from my cell phone).

Welcome to you KidneyBoy!

Thanks for the great review, and it's nice that we somehow lured you out of lurkdom!! I'm sure there are many more lurking about like most of us did.....so come out, come out wherever you are!

Enjoyed your first post, it sounded like a great show, and we hope you will stay and chat with the rest of us!

Welcome KidneyBoy.  Nice report.  Good to hear all the "little things" that make the show were evident.  The only show I went to that was toned down was at the Orpheum in Boston in 05.  The only thing missing was the pig because the venue was so small.  They did have enough room to blow up Skippy tho!  Sounds like a good show, another Dark Side set.  I kinda didn't wanna hear dark side again but after listening to the cd I am so ready, and for Hey You.  I'll post a review in 2 weeks when I attend my 3 shows.

Yep..welcome KidneyBoy, good review.
The only difference to a UK show is the 'cheers' to George W.
He gets a big 'boo' over here as does Tony Blair when he appears on Mr.Screen too.

The way I took it, it was cheering that he was the "Lunatic".  He's not very well liked by a majority back here in the states as well.  I know he's put a real sour taste in my mouth, and I used to be a hard-line conservative.  Needless to say, things have changed.  Anyway I sure wish they'd come closer to where I live.  I live in South Dakota, and had to drive to Denver to see them (a 6 hour drive).  Don't get me wrong, it's still worth it
