This was the third time I saw Aussie Floyd play at the Tower and it was simply another outstanding performance. I was happy when I arrived to see the new arch backdrop behind the circle screen. I had a great seat right at the stage in front of Jamie Humphries on the left hand side. I took a bunch of pics with my cell phone so I hope to upload them here in a couple of days. This was the first of two shows at the Tower and they did a DSOTM set followed by hits. I read in the Scranton, PA. 11-7-07 review that Jamie pinched a nerve before the show so I kept an eye on him to see if it was still effecting him. I did notice some signs that it was still bothering him (i.e. saw him rub his right shoulder once and a roadie did help him put a guitar on). However, his playing was not effected at all. He played great all night and cranked out a killer solo during 'Set the Controls...'.
They put on a great laser and light show and the only things that were missing were the inflatable kangaroo and pig. I think this is simply because the stage isn't big enough. Last year they didn' t have Skippy during 'One of the Days' either and were only able to have the head of the pig stick out from the side of the stage during 'Pigs' so this year I guess they decided not to do it at all. Maybe next year they will play a bigger venue. A local classic rock radio station promoted the show so hopefully they will become more popular here in Philly. They were able to project images onto the arch backdrop which was great because they didn't do that last year.
Tonight I am going to see the second show where they plan to play a 'Wish You Were Here' set. I hope they will play a 'Final Cut' song during the second set (fingers crossed). I look forward to another super night!!
