TOPIC: Lurking for a while, heading to the show 11/14

Lurking for a while, heading to the show 11/14 4 years, 6 months ago #1

a lurker sticks his head up and thanks everybody for all the good information about the Aussies.  I never got a chance to see the 'real' Floyd, so after viewing the Aussie show on the local PBS station, I had to get tickets to their show here in KC.  I'll be taking my 16 y/o niece to the show as a birthday present.  She is a big SlipKnoT/Stone Sour fan, so it should be intersting to see her reaction to Aussie Floyd.  We saw Rush this summer, and she was blown away by the spectacle of a 'show' vs. the concerts that she has seen.

Thanks again to all for the cool info, I'll be posting my review on 11/15.

Hello to you. Its always good to see a reformed lurker. Put those days behind you and become a regular member ?
Your niece will notice one heck of a difference between Aussie Floyd and SlipKnot . I look forward to your review in a couple of days time.

I'm looking forward to it as well.

My 2 fav live concerts so far have been Rush (in 1987) & Aussie Floyd (2005).

BTW, I've also seen the Stones, U2, Neil Young, Triumph, Melissa Etheridge, Iron Maiden, Yes, INXS, Tragically Hip, Judas Priest, Alice Cooper, Jane's Addiction, and more.

But the Aussie's and Rush are my personal stand-outs.

Seen Rush twice this year.. Firstly in June in Scranton,PA. Ian and I missed the beginning due to awful traffic and missed the end so we could get out in one piece lol. I saw them in Sheffield,UK as well. 5 rows from the front and it was awesome. Probably the best gig (next to Peter Gabriel - Ian and I saw him in the Summer and that was amazing) i've been too. Ian was sick at missing the Rush gig in Sheffield....Even worse when he saw the pics..Well, he will go on tour himself  ;D

The Aussies aren't bad either I guess    Flew out and saw them in Minneapolis,Milwaukee and Chicago on this tour with Kieran. Was great to see Ian and the rest of the boys and girls!

Enjoy the gig in Kansas and we look forward to reading your review. I think your niece will love the 'spectacle' of the show! Kieran is 10yrs old (nearly 11) and he's been hooked for a couple of years now  ;D

I have seen Rush on every tour (except T4E) since Grace Under Pressure (that's dating me), and IMHO this tour was the best yet.  The guys seem to really enjoy performing an interacting with the crowd.  Previously, they seemed too enamored with their technology and not enjoying the performance.

Aside from Rush, my only other concert this year was the Killers.  They surprised me with their show, the songs really work well in a public gathering, I highly recommend them.  Queensryche is playing one of our casinos in January, I'll probably catch that show as well.

On an entirely different note, I must share my TicketBastard story.  On the day the Aussie show went on sale, I dutifully logged on and was surprised that the best available seats were 15-20 rows back left side (in a faily small venue).  ??? I bought the tickets (best available) and checked back about a month ago to see if the show had sold out.  Guess what, 8th row center is now 'best available'.  >

Oh well, as a long-time TicketBastard custiomer, I expect to get screwed every time I buy tickets.

Golden rule: always call the venue for tickets first. Welcome to the forum, KansasFloyd.
