I've seen over 300 shows in my day, been a dj on some kickass radio stations, seen Floyd and Roger Waters a few times, and I have to say that these guys and gals put on one of the BEST shows I've ever seen. Of course, I still love my Foo Fighters, Police, old Grateful Dead shows and the like, but DAMN! This band blows me away every time. I get goosebumps when they play, which is a rare thing for me these days. I don't want the show to end. I can't get enough of them.
I think my personal marketing of word of mouth must have rolled in at least a dozen folks by my own doing. They were left speechless.
Orlando's show was spectacular. I saw them last year at the House of Blues where their stage was a bit smaller, but still awesome. Tonight, I was sitting 5 rows back beside a tower of speakers, which made my whole body shake to each pulsing beat radiating from them. Hell, I could feel my hair moving....I was sober by the way. I wish everyone would have stood up so we could have shaken our bones a bit.
Tribute band or not, when they are performing, they take you to places mentally where you don't even think of who is on stage. Awesome music is awesome music. Period. I'll be seeing these guys for life. When my 4 year old gets a little bigger, he's going with me.
I was surfin the net last night as I answered my cell and all I hear is a BOOMboom.....BOOMboom.....BOOMboom.....and then a giant roar from the crowd. No words were spoken between the caller and I, they weren't necessary. As the call ended, I knew my brother and his wife were in for a treat.I'll tell you what he said about the show but first a little bit about my brother,.He came up for a visit a few weeks back and I was raving (and probably drooling) about the Aussie shows from the Philly and Hershey stops. He didn't seem that interested since he saw Pink Floyd, with me, in 1977,1980 and 1987. "Come on bro",he said,"I have always trusted your judgement with live shows and I never heard of them. They can't be that good". Well without saying a word I went to the Aussie web site and played "Us and Them". He says,"DAAAAM,what show is this Floyd show from".I responded."this is Australian Pink Floyd,THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT YOU KNUCKLEHEAD".He kind of just sat there mumbling over and over again, "oh my.....oh my....oh my.....next thing I know....his lap tops out....he's on their web site...he's looking at future dates...he buys 2 tickets for Orlando. All within 5 minutes of hearing the first few notes.Ladies and gentlemen,we have another fan.He called me today sounding just like I did the first time I saw this tremendous band.He said it was very difficult picking out a highlight because the entire show was that good.Ovations thru out the night. He said the Bob Carr Arena? was a great place to see a show. They were 26 rows back,a few seats from center with a great view of the stage and a perfect sound. They played the Dark Side set with the inflatables. He mentioned that the musicianship, lighting, stage, were top notch and vocals were pretty much dead on all night.(something fans here already know).Usually we talk about family, poker, friends, our Eagles, and the weather but today I had to listen to him raving (and drooling) about the Aussies for an hour.Which is ok with me. Maybe I can get him to post a review for all of you. Thanks for reading.
