TOPIC: Royal Albert Hall show info

Royal Albert Hall show info 4 years, 3 months ago #1

Time to cash in some frequent flier miles and see the show in London.
Having been to England only once before, and many years ago. I was hoping some of you could point me in the right direction for a comfy moderately priced hotel  to stay, and  good place to get good tickets.  My girlfriend Cindy and I will be there for about a week and we are hoping to meet all you Floydians at the show... or perhaps prior for dinner and drinks??

We are looking forward to seeing the show with Steve Mac performing and glad to see Mike back in action!  Will be bringing my Strat to have the rest of the band sign it!  (hopefully)

Any help would be great!  Thanks!!

Try the RAH website - They won't rip you off - If you can only get seats for the upper tier, DON'T PANIC!! That happened to us last year, on the evening I went into the Box Office and managed to get a couple lower down.

Hotels - Well -  generally expect it to be expensive - sorry but the Dollar is so weak against the pound.

I usually use late rooms www.laterooms.com/en/p1301/pv1875407/Hot...amp;rt=0,0&c=100. Check out Trip Advisor for reviews of Hotels. If you want bog-standard no frills then use Travelodge, Holiday Inn Express or Premier Travel Inns.

One thing to be aware of, it'll be half term and all the kids will be off from school.

Don't believe all you hear about the Transport System, I've used LA's, New Yorks and Sydney's. London's is better (Honest!) Just avoid using the Tube during Rush Hour otherwise you will play sardines!

Best places to go - Do the London Eye, go early and go when it's clear, it can get a bit Smoggy later on in the day. For markets/bric-a-brac then it's Camden or Greenwich (you can take a boat down the Thames to Greenwich). Do the Tourist things but beware of being ripped off. I'm sure others can point you in th direction of decent pubs/clubs/nightlife.

You can do a tour around the RAH which is well worth it.

Hop you enjoy your trip over to the Smoke and that you get to go to the Best Music Venue in the World! Well that's my opinion anyway!
Positive vibes man!!!!

Hopefully both nights..... Unless my dinner invitation to David G is accepted.
I figure if I'm going all the way over there, I might as well see both shows!!

Travelodge are very reasonable and are scattered around London - find one near a tube station, get an Oyster Card and you are sorted. I always stay at the Union Jack Club (very cheap), but unfortunately it's a members club.
