A reality check, a question of perception ? 4 years, 1 month ago #1

Am I in need of some kind of physcological counselling ? The reason for my question,
This morning at about 10-20am I was listening to Planet Rock when a very nice song was played by some chap named David Gilmour and his band Pink Floyd.
On The Turning Away it was called I thought to myself ,that sounds nearly as good as the way it was performed last year by Ian Cattel and his Australian friends.....nearly as good but not quite.
Then ensued a lengthy discussion with Mrs bigdog. She confided  in me that she can no longer listen to original Pink Floyd  because the Aussies sound so much better.
I agreed with her. Help whats happening to me?

Thats how we feel about Animals in particular, the Aussies have put so much life back into the music. Can't listen to the original anymore shame but there you go.

I firmly believe that the Aussies just don't understand just how much we enjoy the way they perform Animals ? You have to LISTEN to it....not jump up and down shouting approval.
That is how audiences treated Pink Floyd's performance of  it in England. Silent respect then rapturous applause at the end.

Another vote here for the AF version, it has the energy that was sadly lacking on the Floyd studio album, but with all respect, we would not have had the pleasure of the Aussies playing this fine piece of music if Floyd had not written it and played it. I do feel that the original master for the CD was not that good and think that if they did remaster it then it would be a whole lot better.

The Aussies are now true master of their craft, no other tribute band can come close and I'm sure that they know this now, it's a pleasure to see this band treat us every year to this rollercoaster ride of a concert, emotionally, visually and musically, its the best show around. ;D ;D

Goodness me, what a revelation....! Not something I have ever really considered, but a very thought provoking statement Steve?

The juries out for me on this one, as I find the whole concert experience an emotional one as well as an aural and visually stimulating one - a live performance by Pink Floyd just moved me on so many levels?
