Really looked forward to this, my first TAPFS gig since the Cambridge Rock Festival last August. Met up with some friends in the Eagle beforehand, some race car buddies, drank a toast to Jim Clark who died 40 years ago to the day...anyway..
The place was packed, could not move down on the floor but we got a good spot about 10 feet from the stage infront of Jason.
From the first couple of notes of In the Flesh we knew it was going to be a great night. Crystal sound, the lighting as brilliant as ever with some new blue and red lasers too and some great new animations including I think original Gerald Scarfe Wall animation in Goodbye Blue Sky. The set list was exactly the same as Ian noted in the Manchester review, including Nobody Home with Ian in his armchair. In Steve's introduction after ABITW2, he said 'Always a special gig for us coming to play here, where it all started'. Much applause and also when Syd appeared on the screen at the end of SOYCD, a Cambridge boy of course.
When it was Jason's turn to introduce the band, it was the Bruces and Sheila's again. When he introduced Damian he said something like 'a man the Manchester Evening News described as an anorexic Bill Bailey...Bruce Darlington!'
Great night, really knackered afterwards it was so hot and crowded. I had my camera but in the crush no room to get it out of my pocket and take any!
