TOPIC: A gap in The Wall doesn't work.

A gap in The Wall doesn't work. 4 years, 1 month ago #1

As commented by at least one other, I was expecting to get all The Wall tracks together.  I did not expect the entire album, but I had hoped we'd get all the Wall offerings in one go and in album order during the first half.  I know this would have buggered the usual climax and encore, but actually, that would have been a refreshing change too.  After quite a few years, time for a change at the end?

Just as I was getting "lost" in the first Wall selection, they throw in Learning to Fly - it just did not fit IMO.

All played supremely well, but the running order did not work as well as it might - I don't just want great tracks played well one after another, but to be taken on a musical journey - that is how floyd albums work and so should any concert.

Now I am being picky and fussy, but that's what comes of seeing them 2 or 3 times a year for several years in a row !!!

A close inspection of your ticket will reveal that the wording may be similar to "The Best of The Wall", not "The Wall".

Am I being picky?

I firmly believe or perhaps hope that we will get a full Wall show in the future.
Are we nearly there yet?

If you read what I said, I understood that, but still expected and desired "The Best of The Wall" played as one set piece, like they did with DSOM, Animals, WYWH when they did those albums on previous tours.

I see what you mean but as you say, they'd have to play it either at the start or at the end or the whole thing is ruined.

That's the trouble when you nick bits of concept albums for live shows.

I for one would be happy to see all the wall songs in the first half of the show finishing with comfy and run, a climax to the first half, there are plenty of other tracks to play in the best of second half many of those songs can be used as the finale, when they play liverpool summer pops this year surely this is their plan as advertised 2 albums, plus requests, unless they play the wall tracks second half, can anyone reading this shed any light onto their plans for this gig? surely they wont play the wall minus comfy and run then use them for the encore.??
