lads and lasses having my first experience of the australian pink floyd show this saturday. was going to go see them in 2005/06ish back home in sydney but had to make other committments so 2 years on i get my chance.

am looking forward to it.

any pointers towards what sets were looking at?? from the reviews i'm seeing i gather there is a big influence towards the wall, particularly the first half of each CD, along with the obvious classics like comfortably numb and run like hell...

what chances of them playing some of the lesser known stuff from dark side (us and them, breath/speak to me or ecplise) and/or wish you were here (welcome to the machine or have a cigar - both great songs IMO)...??

I noticed in some old reviews some great raise for the peformance of careful with that axe eugene, but haven't seen it on any recent set lists... any reason for the disseaparance of that one?? the obvious one i guess being that its one out there piece of music that is not for everyones taste...

anyway really can't wait, and like any other pink floyd session (i.e. when someone pulls out their collection of PF albums) they are bound to unearth a couple of new gems i'd never heard before, such is the magical nature of floyds music.

The show has evolved and changed over the years. You cant really expect them to play the same set list year in year out? Ive been following the band for ten years and at one time or another have seen them perform the songs that you've listed.
If you enjoy the show on Saturday you'll have to carry on seeing them on every tour ? Plus of course a copy of the 2004 Live Liverpool DVD might be usefull as a way of keeping you happy.

this was my 1st experience of the Aussies and i was blown away. I'd heard they were good but the hairs on the back of my neck were standing out at times. my brother came up from Stafford to see them with me and after that performance I've promised to go to see them in Birmingham with him next year. the highlight of my night was sheep as it's from my fave album but comfortably numb was played perfectly to my great appreciation. run like hell was an outstanding finish. i was a young lad ( i wont say how young )when Floyd done pulse at the rah and couldn't afford to go but what i seen on sunday was enough to ease my suffering. i would now love to see them do coming back to life as i must admit I'm a gilmour fan rather than waters and that's my fave tune to date. the Scottish daily record gave them a 5 star review for their performance in Glasgow ( my home city ) the night after i saw them. roll on next year.
zig zag away.

Hi dthourn,

Welcome to the madhouse

Having had a chat with Jason at Birmingham it would seem that they alternate between Pigs and Sheep on the set list, the show is fantastic and very polished now, although it does seem that some of the audience don't seem to recognise some of the wall material which I find amazing.

I also mentioned to Jason that they played Echoes at some shows a couple of years ago and wondered why it had been dropped, he said that you could see people getting up to goto the bar during the song > so they drooped it, the same thing happened when they played Animals, true Floyd fans love this album(me for one) but someone who has only heard DSOTM will be off to the bar  > Animals was dropped and replaced by either DSOTM or WYWH, I was lucky and got to see the Aussie play both.

I think you are going to throughly enjoy the show ;D, I'm the same as bigdog as in the fact that I have followed the Aussies for 10 years now and have enjoyed every second of their shows, whether it be in a small leisure centre(as of 10 years ago) or a large arena (present)their shows are very enjoyable, at Sheffield Arena I closed my eyes a couple of times and just listened, try it and you will see what I mean. ;D

Hi, another forum newcomer here   Am also going to the Belfast show tonight and am wondering - assuming a prompt 8pm start as per the ticket - what time the show is likely to end?  I only ask 'cos I need to book a taxi home in advance etc.  Don't want to have to miss the end of the show...  Thanks!

Oh another thing, how long generally is the intermission?

Welcome to the forum, Jeremy. The show starts promptly as per the ticket time, and finishes around 10:30 - 10:45. The interval is 20 minutes.
