Not stirring things up here so keep yer nickers on.

The Aussies are not the originals and as such an old argument can be made that they are not as good as the originals because of that. I can agree with that.

But......the Aussies are as good as the originals and in fact in my opinion (sacrilege I know) are actually better than the originals.

The musicianship of this group is first class. I actually love listening to any of them and all of them as much if not more than the originals.

This show is over the top....and as Nick has said, the Aussies Floyd (modest as they are) don't seem to really believe how bloody good they are.

I can understand why Damian or Steve would have a hard time comparing themselves to legendary David Gilmour himself. But they are as good a him....even though they copy him (IMO)  ;D Their skill level is certainly as good. The same applies to Paul, Colin, and Jason and Ian, not to mention the gals and Mike K!....all of them are right over the top.

This show is a runaway success because of that.

Take a bow....all of you

As I've mentioned before, this is because if you are a tribute act you are under no pressure to continue touring, producing new material for record companies or worrying about being considered famous in your own right.  Because of this the reviewers tend to go easier on you than if you are the original band - you are only judged on your performances and not any original stuff you happen to come up with (which, of course, the Aussies don't have to do).

At the same time you are under pressure to recreate the sound of the original and not some poor copy.

So whilst there is pressure, it is concentrated in other areas - the kind of areas that push you to perform better rather than to fall out with each other and end up in court suing each other.
Be very very careful what you put into that head, because you will never ever get it out. Thomas Cardinal Wolsey (1471-1530)
