Found this interesting article, TAPFS earned AU$6.5M last year making them the 14th highest earning entertainers from Aus - above Nicole Kidman !

Obviously I would think actual earnings would be a little more modest give the overheads of running the show and the number of people involved. But it's not bad for a so called "Tribute" band eh ?

THE Wiggles have again topped the list of Australia's highest-earning entertainers, but the blokes in skivvies felt the bite of the strong Aussie dollar.

The children's group had gross earnings of $45 million in 2007-08, which was $5 million down on the previous year, with the dollar being mostly to blame, according to the BRW Top 50 Entertainers list.

  TOP 10 HIGHEST EARNERS
The Wiggles $45.0 million
Kylie Minogue $40.0 million
Russell Crowe $36.0 million
Hugh Jackman $25.0 million
Hi-5 $18.0 million
Cate Blanchett $14.0 million
Keith Urban $12.3 million
AC/DC $12.0 million
James Wan and Leigh Whannell $8.8 million
Anthony LaPaglia $8.0 million

Kylie Minogue was the top-paid solo entertainer, with her earnings soaring $13 million to $40 million last year, when the cancer survivor relaunched her career with sold-out European concerts.

Rounding out the top five were rich-list veterans actors Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman, and children's entertainers Hi-5.

BRW said the Wiggles, which had topped the list for the past four years, were the highest grossing entertainers over the 12 years of the survey, earning more than $240 million in that time.

The Top 50 Entertainers list tracks the earnings of Australia’s biggest actors, musicians, authors, broadcasters, models and television hosts.

“Most of Australia’s Top 50 Entertainers enjoyed a bumper year and the cut-off to make the list increased $200,000 to $1.3 million,” BRW said.

Nicole Kidman, who gave birth to daughter Sunday Rose this year, was notably absent from the top 10. Her income was $4.5 million this year, compared with $35 million the year before.

``Actors tend to change a lot,' said BRW editor-in-chief  Sean Aylmer said.

Kidman's husband, country singing star Keith Urban, was seventh with $12.3 million behind actror Cate Blanchett on $14 million.

Rock Group AC/DC, filmmakers James Wan and Leigh Whannell and Anthony LaPaglia have also made the top 10.

Aylmer said this year's list saw surprise inclusions from artists, models and tribute groups.
``It's a much more diverse list this year than normal,' he said.

The top model was Miranda Kerr, at number 25 on the list, who made $3.6 million - just pipping Jennifer Hawkins, at number 27, earning $3.3 million.

There was high turnover on the 50-strong list from last year, with more than 20 being debutants or returnees.

“The most impressive debut is The Australian Pink Floyd Show (#14), which earned $6.5 million during the past year,” said BRW.

“The Pink Floyd tribute band is extremely popular in the United Kingdom and is soon to embark on a tour of North America, which will feature full live performances of the rock opera The Wall.

“Other notable debuts are artist John Olsen (#28) with income of $3.1 million from painting sales, and veteran Australian actor Alan Dale (#44), who earned $1.5 million appearing in dramas on United States television.”

They'll be going round in a Lear soon. Very interesting article. It's amazing that they are over half way to AC/DC's revenues with all of their global music sales.

I wonder how they compiled the figure ? I mean most if not all of their income must be earned / declared and taxed outside of Aus.

Lies, damn lies and statistics and all that but it does show what a hard working set of chaps & gals they are to achieve this predominantly through ticket sales alone.

It just goes to show that if you work hard you earn a just reward.
The down side of course is that if you don't work, then you get bugger all ?

They fully deserve it, each year we all question "How the Hell can they improve the show" they do and deliver quality, unbelievable music, lights and sound. I expect to see them top of the Chart in the near future and know it will happen. I'd like to see the Band play in Dubai, the Aussies must book a tour there imho, simply.
