I normally just go to Cardiff and possibly Bristol (and Caldicott this year) to see the band but never more that twice a year. However, as this really is going to be an extravaganza for me next year I intend doing a few more.
I know this will be a personal issue for many people but for those who travel throughout the country are there any acknowledged best venues for seeing the band live? I know the band will be spectacular wherever they play but where will "The Wall" have best effect.
Again, I appreciate this is a personal issue but I intend doing a few trips next year and would welcome any suggestions. Living in South Wales but travelling not a real issue (within reason!)

IMHO....I would go to the Royal Albert Hall.
Chances are likely, if the Aussies decide to film the shows for a future DVD etc. it will be at the RAH

To see a full production that includes inflatables the venue has to be large enough to accomodate all the props-so venues with a large stage and high ceiling are best-so one of the arenas would be best-Birmingham,Sheffield,Newcastle,Manchester,Liverpool,Aberdeen,Belfast Arenas would be ideal. However,as they are large venues some of the intimacy is lost. Cardiff  is probably big enough to do the full show but not so large that that you can't see the musicians. Some venues like Brighton Centre may be similar. Other Venues such as Bournemouth BIC may be reasonable to put on a good show but you may not get all of the inflatables but still get a good show. It depends on what you want to see. Of course none of the dates have been released so I don't know where the show will be perforrming so none of these suggested should be taken as 'confirmed'. Different venues have different atmospheres. Leicester is usually a good show for atmoshere but the venue may not be large enough to get all the inflatables but you'll still get the light show and animation and stage set up etc. Liverpool Pops is notorious for riff raff of course-but if you like that sort of thing you'll probably get the full show-RAH is usually good for production too although some people say the sound in the venue is not the best for live music.

If the band play The Point in Dublin next year try and be there Steve.
Plus if it ever happens again, it probably wont (worse luck) Luxol Grounds in Malta is a place to experience a truly great atmosphere.
I know its not in the UK but you did say within reason, that you don't mind traveling

I think the band have said themselves that Liverpool is their favourite place to play because of the audience. I would agree having seen them there in 2005. They play 2 nights running in Liverpool every year which speaks for itself. Ive also seen them in Belfast were they were just as good but the atmosphere, although great, was not quite up there with the Liverpool audience. Hope this helps.
