Long time viewer, first time poster. ;D
Just got home from the 2nd of 2 straight nights with the Aussie Floyd. WHAT A SHOW!
Last year when I saw them at the same venue I was sitting in the 2nd row in the balcony and thought those were good seats - this year I was able to score 3rd row dead center on the floor as soon as they went on sale. They may have actually been a little TOO close given what was to come.
Of course being that close, I HAD to take photos with my digital camera (making sure to keep the flash and LCD off since 1) that was the policy last year and 2) lasers don't play nice with flashes

. More on this policy later ...
What I think made this show SO much better than the previous night in DC is that pretty much EVERYONE around me was singing and not just sitting there. Not just the big hits either - the entire show was a giant sing along.
In The Flesh? started and we were off and running. Think I may have gotten a bit of a tan from all of the lights just from this first song.
Another Brick as usual was nailed. This is the song that took the show from being just a concert to more of a party with 3000 or so good friends.
The movie portion (for lack of a better term) was very true to the movie. Very impressed with how quickly we moved from portion to portion as the show never seemed to slow down.
Near the end of the first set (which absolutely flew by), I am told that no photos are allowed and to put away my camera. BOO! >
The first set ends and we have the first of MANY standing ovations for the evening.
During the first intermission, I flagged down one of the ushers and asked them about the policy, keeping in mind that the year prior the policy was no videos or flashes but everything else was fair game. She instructs me that they were told no photos. Highly bummed but fair enough. Disappointed for the 2nd night in a row about this ...
As I'm getting ready to head back to my seat for the second set, the usher comes running back up to me and says "we were just told no video but photos without a flash are ok".
... SWEET.
I grab the first usher who told me to put away my camera and say "you heard that right?" She smiles and says "no flashes or movies right?". I smiled at her and head back to my seat.
The 2nd set was in my humble opinion when the show exploded. The lasers were turned on and the light show was cranked up to eleven. Comfortably Numb and Run Like Hell were the obvious favorites - standing ovation after each. CRAZY lights and lasers for these 2 songs. DVD's do not do it justice - MUST be seen live to really experience it!
It was extremely cool however hearing In The Flesh live and uncensored again. LOVE the "that one looks Jewish" line - it's almost like they are speaking directly to me! ;D
Before I know it, the album is over and everyone exits the stage to ANOTHER standing ovation.
So, not only did I get a tan from the lights, I'm also getting a workout in from all these ovations. BONUS!
Everyone comes back out (rather quickly compared to the night before) and the intro to Time kicks in. A little disappointed they didn't do Shine On as they did in DC but Dark Side is my favorite album so all is forgiven.
Great Gig In The Sky was just that - GREAT! Yet another standing O - this time just for the ladies.
One Of These Days was INCREDIBLE. Another jaw dropping light show.
During the standing O for this, we meet the band. Needless to say no one sits down.
We finished the night with Brain Damage/Eclipse and, you guessed it, one final standing O for the absolute best concert I have ever seen!
Now I bet you're asking "where are the photos?". As far as they go ... I ended up taking over 500. A bit too much to post here.
However, they have all been posted to my myspace page (which is public) so all members here are welcome to view, comment, and grab any that you want. The web address for those that are interested is myspace.com/almightyljb.
The Aussies are not the closest thing we will ever get to a real Pink Floyd concert again - they ARE Pink Floyd. They're the real deal. GO SEE THESE GUYS!!!
