TOPIC: Atlanta Pt. 2

Atlanta Pt. 2 3 years, 6 months ago #1

I want to add something to my previous review... yeah I know.. it's a week after the fact.

When I saw the Aussies I was expecting the studio album version of The Wall. We know now that they are presenting the live "Is There Anybody Out There" version which admittantly, I was not too familiar with.  :-[  So I bought the CD.  ;D  After listening to the live CD version, the fill-in drummer Aaron did an outstanding job! He is the perfect fill-in for the Aussies and I want to commend him on his abilities. Well done Aaron!

I just wanted to say that.

Hi Scott, I was never a huge fan of the original wall studio album, it had some great moments for me, but as a whole it was just sort of "so so". But the release of "Is anybody out there" was what really drew me to The Wall a second time. The live version is waaaay better for me than the studio version. The Wall needs to be seen and heard live to get it's full impact. Can't wait until Dec 8th!

Hey Bob,

Yeah, I agree that this new (for me anyway) CD really is a great live CD. It's a shame I didn't discover it way earlier.  :  I like live recordings better and I've listened to PULSE a million times. This will get some serious play.  ;D

Agree 100% there Bob, I was never that impressed first time round by it, I'm a DSOTM boy. But live is different - Comfy live is sublime. On the original record it's OK, but it does not blow me away - and Damian live, or Gilmour studio for me is a no brainer, DD wins hands down.

The originial studio album of The Wall needed to be trimmed somewhat so it could fit onto 2 LPs.  The live versions of course were much better and had a lot of content not in the studio version.  I for one had an "ROIO" (which cost me a bit of $$$$) that was a live performance from New York quite some time before Is There Anybody Out There? was released.

About a week ago, I listened to the studio version in its entirety, and then played ITAOT in it's entirety so I could compare the two.  I noticed that a lot of what wasn't on the studio version involved bits involving the late Richard Wright.

Starting to count the days (20) until the show here in Salt Lake and can't wait.
