TOPIC: Suitable for Children?

Suitable for Children? 3 years, 6 months ago #1

Is the new show visually suitable for children aged 9?  I see people referring to it as "uncensored"

I realise it depends on your own tolerance to what you like your kids to see.  I wouldn't let them watch the film, but I am hoping that uncensored does not mean too gruesome visuals.  I think I can tolerate the language from the CD version - can't recall what the 1980 concert version was like.

I think you can take the kids if they are not too young.  There is just the curse words found on the album.  The animation isn't as violent as the movie as well (no bloodly skulls being cracked open).

One thing to remember is that it's a very long show, right around 3 hours long. Most kids I know wouldn't sit there that long.

Charley, the forums youngest member (as far as I'm aware) will be going to a couple of shows next Spring with her Dad, Uncle Keats and Gramps (me). She's been to 4 shows previously. Beaulieu, Liverpool Pops, Folkestone and Bournemouth. Most APF shows run to about 2 hours 45 minutes, including the interval, and we've had no problems up to now with her getting restless. Quite the reverse actually. Even at the tender age of 8 going on 9 she gets into the Floyd zone and is totally absorbed - sings her little heart out and plays air drums along with Bonney!!  ;D

As far as APF shows being suitable for youngsters - my family are more than happy to rely on the band and management to set the boundary of good and bad taste at their shows and we're confident that they would never embark on anything in the production which would overstep the mark.

Anyone considering taken youngsters to a show will have to make their own decision of course, and although I have yet to see TAPFS playing The Wall, I would respectfully suggest that there is no cause for concern.

Hi

I'd say it depends on the age of your children. My eldest is nearly 12 and I'd be happy to take him along to see 'The Wall'. For me though, I'd have to seriously consider it if they much younger. The 'curse' words from the album are ones I would certainly not want my children repeating In a school playground. ( Not if they wanted to keep their arms and legs intact!) Plus It is a pretty depressing album, depends whether you'd think they'd find it 'entertaining' enough to sit through all 3 hours.

I'd say, if your children are of an age to understand and not repeat them, then fine.

Like Mike says, You have to decide upon what you find suitable for your children.
I'll be able to tell you more when I've seen the show next week for myself.

Hope this helps
