TOPIC: Halifax!

Halifax! 3 years, 6 months ago #1

I've heard rumors of this.  Can anyone confirm/deny?

Re: Halifax date cancelled? 3 years, 6 months ago #2

Ticketatlantic is still selling tickets for the show.  If it were cancelled, they would not be selling tickets and "Cancelled" would show-up over the show's poster on their website (as happened when that classic rock show was cancelled).

I just logged into the site, and it would still let me order tickets... fairly good seats in the lower bowl.  So ticket sales may be an issue (as I feared)... but I'd have no way of comfirming that.

We in Vancouver are going to kick start the Canadian leg of this tour big time!. Canadians are going to be mad and crazy if they don't go to this show when it comes to a city near them. After having years of a Pink Floydless live music show life.....having finally concluded that I would never see this music played live, and this well ever again, and then to find a show that truly embraces the legacy of the Floyd themselves.....holy crapola! In 2004 I saw the Aussies in Vancouver and have been in shock ever since. Canada...wake up and get your arses (or asses) down and get your tickets ASAP. This is not a show to be missed......and take a friend and the missus....and maybe the girlfriend too eh!

This would be very sad if shows are being cancelled due to poor tickets sales .  Maybe more fly posters around the place would help, or more info in the local papers ETC

We have a small cafe down by the local marina next to the Trent, we are quite friendly with the guy who owns it and we put up a flyer for last years UK tour dates in there and you would not believe the interest that people are showing, as soon as the 2009 UK dates(hopefully) are announced they will be up on the cafe wall. ;D

There have been full page ads in papers and spots on the radio, all promoting the Aussie Floyd "Wall" show in Halifax on Dec. 20th.  This is the first time that I can really such advertising for my city.

There is excellent word of mouth... excellent reputation here for TAPFS.  Everybody that I have spoken with, regarding Aussie Floyd either says "I love them.  Saw them...." or says "I have heard that they are great..." Methinks that the problem (if there even is a problem with ticket sales... it is pure speculation) would be timing.  Five days before Christmas is keeping the vast majority of my Aussie posse away.

In hard economic times, a concert so close to Christmas is not a priority.  And we've had some great concerts so far this year.  Halifax usually gets no (or very few) big name concerts.  Since September we've had: Alice Cooper, Elton John, Lenny Kravitz, and Neil Young.  If people opt to not buy a ticket, it is because they have established Christmas plans and/or limited money (because of Christmas, or because they've already expended their concert going budget).

People go to Starbucks everyday and spend about $4.00 for a cup of coffee. If they could save that it would more than buy a couple of tickets to see the Aussies just before Christmas. I predict a great turn out in Halifax! You Haligonians sure know how to party!
