The show in Los Angeles was @ Universal/Gibson and was on tues @ 8:15 – crowd filtered in slow but they were sold out, ~6000 – the venue is fantastic, made for this sort of concert – acoustics were amazing as always and I have to say the aussies really sunk some change into their lighting and sound equipment, during quiet passages it was a black background, no hiss no anything, it was amazing. The band was tight, this we all know but I have to say Bobby Harrison was totally working for me that night, he is awesome. It was a solid performance – the girls are great and I don’t know the name of the one on the left side but I bet she gets hit on all the time, what a looker! Perfect evening in every respect. Gibson along with the Greek and the Bowl are LA’s best venues. Also the nice thing that @ at Gibson and esp the Greek they don’t watch over and police everyone.
The show in Orange County was @ Honda Center/ Arrowhead Pond on wed @ 8:30. The venue sucks in every way. It’s made for sports; they cut the space in half and hang up some curtains. They fill in the field with metal chairs that are tied together with no space in-between, the other seats are poorly located and the acoustics suck. It’s on a par with the other suck venue in LA – Staples. They screen you for metal coming in, there are guards and ushers everywhere, if you want to blow weed or bring in your own booze it can be done but it a hassle. If you want to feel young and free again this is not the place. The band did the best they could but anyone that saw both shows could easily tell the difference – they were not into it –the venue does not support their act so I am not surprised. They sold maybe half the seats available. As I started before in another post this is imo far too close to a holiday weekend for a show like this, they will never get the draw they deserve by having a huge limit like they did. Best and only place to see a show in OC is Verizon/Irvine Meadows, that place rocks but its outside so it way too late to have anything there.
I still had a good time but god am I glad I saw them the night before – the people I went with are PF fans but were not familiar with the aussie’s and they came away totally impressed.
Sorry for the lack of details, I will let Dan fill in the blanks – I saw what appeared to be the entire W1P band in the best seats in the house @ Gibson, looked like they were having a great time.
Cheers!
