TOPIC: Vegas Hard Rock Venue TERRIBLE

Vegas Hard Rock Venue TERRIBLE 3 years, 5 months ago #1

I have seen TAPFS twice, in 2007 and 2008 in Washington, DC.  The show is amazing.  However, I guess I was spoiled by the venues.

My wife treated me to a trip to Las Vegas to see TAPFS at the Hard Rock.  While the band was amazing, the crowd and venue were TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE.

They had so many chairs packed in to such a tiny area that it was literally dangerous.  This problem was worsened by the alcohol consumption in the room.  There were people so drunk in our section that they were literally falling over onto the people around them.  We watched well over 30 people leave purely from the drunks in our section.  By the end of the performance, it was me and 10 mega-drunks left in our whole section.  My wife and friends bailed out just after The Wall was finished.

Furthermore, the stage was small.  I can only assume that the light show is smaller as a result.

To those that book these venues.

1.  Please, please return to the Strathmore in Bethesda, MD next year.  It is an amazing venue with a large stage.  I saw the show here in 2007 and I would happily pay twice the ticket price to see TAPFS at this location.

2.  Please do not ever book at the Hard Rock in Vegas again.  There has to be a nicer venue in Las Vegas.

I saw them in 2006 play at the Aladdin Theater in Vegas (now Planet Hollywood). The stage was big enough for the inflatables. The theater was pretty spacious and had great  accoustics.

Agree 100%!  I saw them in Atlanta (Gwinnett Center) 2 months earlier.  Large arena...sound and lighting were outstanding.  Truly the best concert, as a whole, that I have ever seen.

The Hard Rock was a terrible venue.  Way too small for APF and the accoustics sucked!

Thank goodness they're shutting "The Joint" down in January.

I was at the show in Vegas. It was the fifth show of the seven I saw in the last two weeks.
2 in LA
2 in Reno
1 in Vegas
1 is San Francisco
1 in Portland
2000 miles of traveling to see the band and bring friends from each city to the show! Well worth it. I've always wanted to do a concert roadtrip...  And to follow Floyd... Duhh no brainer!!

I talked to Gareth (sound Engineer) after the Hardrock show. He told me they blew the house PA system!!  Ooops!!

I actually didn't see any drunk people, but, when I purchased the tickets directly from the venue, They told me seats 1+2 were in the middle...Lie... I was at the outside edge.  Oh well..
As soon as the wall ended, I walked up and sat in a vacant seat in the front row!

There are only two types of music.   Floyd... and all that other stuff.

Seven gigs  in two weeks ? Woo, such dedication to the cause.
Don't you go over doing it now Steve. Glad that you had so much fun.
