TOPIC: Cambridge Corn Exchange 6th July

Cambridge Corn Exchange 6th July 2 years, 10 months ago #1

The Wall followed by SOYCD, GGITS, WYWH, OOTD, BD/Eclipse

Was seated upstairs this time, the sound was not as great as at Ipswich on Saturday, but this takes nothing away from another storming performance. Sound quality is an age old problem at the corn exchange (since I first went in 1974 anyway - 'Budgie' I think it was ), but down on the floor Gareth usually has the mix covered...next time I'm back down there!

Amy back to her smiling self and the crowd were really up for it, much noisier than the Ipswich crowd but still nowhere like as noisy as Liverpool thankfully...need to hear the music! Again no lasers..bit of a disappointment.

Damian on fire during the CN solo, which as usual got the biggest applause along with the girls after GGITS.

Norwich next for me on the 25th.

I went to see the late great Jeff Healy at the Cambridge Corn Exchange and could only get a seat near the back upstairs,  the sound was truly terrible - nothing the soundman can do about it I suspect it's just what you get at the far upstairs end of a long corridor!

I saw TAPFS at The Junction way back when...

It doesn't help in this pathetic health & safety world that Cambridge council choose to have large 3ft high thick glass screens fixed at the front of the balcony..to stop what? crowd surfing?? Anyway, you are watching the gig through a windshield..the sound meets this buffer and was very distorted at times, despite a central speaker stack hoisted up above the balcony. I tried standing up at one point, the sound quality was much better above the screen!

Definitely standing downstairs next time as I always had before.

I was seated upstaits, i thought the sound was great, thats the 4th time ive seen them at the corn exchange and thought that the crowd was most supportive of the band. Me and the wife both agreeded we enjoyed it better than at wembley. just thought a special mention for carl brunsdon who from when we first saw him in poland is oozing & gaining lots of confidence which showed in all the different instruments he played.

roll on poland next year

How many meetings of overpaid highly important council managers (not) did it take to come up with that gem of an idea ? Three foot high glass, sound reflective screens at a music venue.....pathetic. >      You pay a premium price for the best seats in the house THEN YOU CANT BLOODY HEAR.
All enjoyment is slowly being over managed out of our lives.

I finally made it .... my first TAPF gig .... I too was at Cambridge and can't really comment on sound at other venues ... all I can say was ..... was ..... (really, I can't think of any words that are original ) .... Let's just say that I was blown away ....
It was very emotional at times, My daughter cried at 'Outside the Wall' ... My whole family at one event we'll remember all our lives ....
Brilliant ... just brilliant (yep ... not original either, but it says everything ....
