TOPIC: Nokia @ LA Live is Ground Zero For Floyd between Aug 6 and Oct 3

OK, is it a good time to be a Pink Floyd fan in Los Angeles?  Perhaps.  On August 6, 2009 at Club Nokia, The Alan Parsons Live Project is teaming up with the Pink Floyd Laser Spectacular and the Ohio based Floyd tribute Any Colour You Like for a combined Alan Parsons/Pink Floyd show at Club Nokia.  This is the only venue currently scheduled for the combined show (Parsons is playing with the Laser Spectacular in Vegas, but Any Colour will not be at that show).  Then, of course, the Aussie Floyd pull into the Nokia Theater on September 24 for their LA stop.  The Nokia Theater is in the same complex as Club Nokia -- but the Theater has a capacity of 7,100 while the Club has a capacity of 2,200.  Then, just a few days later on October 3 Which One's Pink? and Led Zepagain will team up for a Pink Zeppelin Tour show at Club Nokia.  We, of course, intend to take full advantage of the promotional opportunities that the Parsons and APFS shows afford us.  In fact, Any Colour You Like is borrowing our female vocalists and sax player -- and they will put in a good word for us from the stage.

As the Go Gos once sang "This town is our town, it's so glamorous, bet you'd live here if you could and be one of us . . . "

Maybe if you put it in the general Floyd tribute area?

It really sounds like a good time! Why aren't you guys playing with Mr. Parsons or is that a tribute?

The tribute from Ohio was brought to the table by the Laser Spectacular people.  No sweat -- which is why we loaned them the side players.

I put this in Aussie Floyd because there's a Aussie Floyd component to this -- and no one reads the general floyd tribute threads!

I always thought it was crazy that the laser people didn't hook up with bands regionally and make it worth going. Lasers just aren't that spectacular on their own.

I kind of agree with you but I'd venture to say most fans don't.  The Pink Floyd Laser Spectacular has been going strong for over 20 years and they have low overhead!
