Sorry it's late - I've been on Grandad duties!!

Like Great Gig, this was my 4th 'Wall' show. I've seen 2 with the 'theatricals', Brighton and Bournemouth, and 2 without, Ipswich and Croydon.

Again, like Great Gig has said about Basingstoke, the Croydon gig was a stripped down affair, no lasers, props etc. The Fairfield stage is very modest in size and it was a cosy fit to get all and sundry on let alone any 'extras' like inflatables etc.

But actually it didn't matter. Without any distractions it was a perfect opportunity to concentrate and see this wonderful band do what they do best. Dressed all in black, they just gave a perfect rendition of The Wall to what began as a slightly reserved audience, but who ended up as wildly enthusiastic. A standing ovation for Comfy of course, which was naturally followed by others after Outside The Wall and for the encores.

Amy sang Great Gig beautifully. Jacquie and Emily were right on the button as well. Ola was absent at this gig. All 4 of these young ladies are greatly talented and they all have strengths that they bring out on various songs. On this tour though, I must say that I have particularly enjoyed Jacquie singing the solo on Mother. She has such a strong voice and she sings the part beautifully in my opinion. Colin was playing Bass guitar, back after his break when I saw the band at Ipswich, so Ian was confined to vocals. The band as a whole performed as the consumate professionals that they are.

We had great seats in what was virtually a sell out - 7 rows from the stage and dead centre in what is the first raised tiered seats in the stalls - so it doesn't matter if you get a big guy in front of you as you can see over their heads!! No rowdies in attendance I'm pleased to say. With my granddaughter Charley present I don't need that kind of behaviour around me.

The set list was The Wall followed by encores of Shine, Great Gig, Wish You Were Here, One Of These Days, [s]Brian[/s] Whoops, BRAIN Damage and Eclipse.

So there we are. The end for me of another wonderful season of TAPF shows. I take this opportunity to thank ALL those involved for the great pleasure they have given to my family and I.

Thank you Steve - consider it done.

You're spot on there Bob. It is a source of great pleasure to me that I can go to a gig, as I did on Wednesday, in the company of both of my sons and my granddaughter Charley. She has taken to Aussie Floyd like a duck to water. It's been her decision, nobody has coerced her - she just loves the music. She is an enthusiastic participant. She knows alot of the songs and she sings her heart out at the gigs. After the show at Ipswich Bonney told me that he had spotted Charley playing air drums (which she was) during the gig.  ;D

I think we all know what lovely people TAPFS are. By that I mean the band and their support personel. I've been lucky enough to be invited backstage from time to time and when this has happened, and Charley has been with me, she has been made 'a fuss of' by all and sundry. She comes with me to claim the set list from Gareth after the gigs and he takes the time and trouble to chat with her. The girls have always got a kind word to say to her - in short, these people, who must be knackered after performing for the best part of 3 hours, can still find it in themselves to give a little time and pleasure to others. They have my upmost respect and gratitude.
