TOPIC: DC Oct 7th Show from a newbie

DC Oct 7th Show from a newbie 2 years, 7 months ago #1

hey Everyone....

First timer at a TAPFS Show and what an experience.

My 11 year old daughter and I went to the Warner Theatre in DC to catch the show last night.  I never had a chance to see PF before and wanted to share the experience with her.  After grabbing a set list off the forum a few weeks back, I was able to get her accustomed to some of the songs she had not already heard and the two of us had a fantastic time.  They did not disappoint at all.  The music was fantastic and the lights and graphics were astounding.  I would look over occasionally and notice her mouth wide open, just staring, taking it all in.  Right from the opening, with Breathe, they grabbed us, and took us prisoner, right till the end with Comfortably Numb.  Towards the end of the song, Comfortably Numb, I noticed the dark object coming from the top of the stage.....next thing you knew, they were rocking out the end of it with the Mirror Ball illuminated and the place going nuts.  (The Warner Theatre is a small venue, and the ball, with the lights and other effects, really transformed the place)....if you didn't know any different, you truly felt that this was PF....

Once again, it was our first time seeing these guys but it will certainly not be the last.  I highly recommend this show to anyone of any age.  Quick thanks to the Forum and the Band for making our PF experience something that we both will never forget....

Don

P.S.  I was taking her to school this morning (early rise after a late night) and as we were waiting our turn for the drop off, she said...."What did you dream? Its alright, we told you what to dream".....

Its great that you took her!  Any parent that introduces their children to good music like that is doing a great job of laying the foundation for artistic appreciation (and not letting MTV/Disney Radio/Trendy Peers tell her what to listen to) - glad you enjoyed it!  Kids experience things in such an innocent and open way that I'm sure that show will make a lifelong impression on her.  Its crazy that she quoted welcome to the machine, which was easily the darkest song they played!  I wonder what she dreamed last night!
OOOoooh myyyy...

Re: the Machine.....
We talked briefly on the way home in the car before she fell asleep. (an hour long drive to the country in Virginia from DC)....she said she liked "The Machine"....I think it was the visuals....(probes attached to the heads....kids marching and being dumped off the conveyor).....what took me back was that she "got it".....

Once again....what a night....and I thought you could only have that much fun at a show like that with an adult.  As long as they keep coming back, we will both be there!
