TOPIC: Durham, NC 10/17/2009

Durham, NC 10/17/2009 2 years, 7 months ago #1

My first Aussie Floyd show ever, and I was throroughly impressed.  Very faithful to both studio album versions (i.e. SOYCD I-V complete, which Floyd/Waters often truncated in recent tours), and live versions (i.e. Run Like Hell, which included both Gilmour's lengthly muted intro from the '87 and '94 tours, AND Waters' leather-clad ranting about paranoids and weaklings in the audience from the '80 Wall live shows).  The kind of show Floyd would have done had they stayed together (or reunited)...

Some highlights:
Great Gig in the Sky - sung beautifully, w/ surfing video from Floyd tours w/ footage of Wright added
Pigs (three different ones) - which I have never seen live by Floyd or Waters since I started seeing their tours in '87 onwards
The Gunner's Dream - which I've also never seen in concert and never thought much of, but came over suprisingly well live

Set List - very similar to other set lists posted for this tour, except w/ Animals side 1 being replaced w/ side 2 (minus POTW2):
