Love the Aussies, and love the Floyd.  Clearly the Aussies have the superstar era down pat, and i've seen them play it 7 times in the past 12 years.  "The Wall" was a good idea and worked excellently, though the encores were a bit tired.  I think this is because the setlist is getting samey, and the encore was the usual.  Those are great songs and it's good to hear them live, but what about some other songs?  What about going back a bit more for a substantial part of the set? They used to play "Echoes" brilliantly.  What about an all-psychedelic show with projected type lighting as per the era, or a neo-psych show using new technology to create somethign similar?  Atom heart Mother?  A lot of brains goes into making a great show, but it seems the lightshow (great as it is) show is redesigned more than the actual musical set.

Welcome to the forum, Vincent. You're jumping on a bandwagon that a lot of other hardcore fans have already started rolling. I'd like to see it myself, but The Aussies have reached the point where to sustain the ticket sales volumes they need to support the size of operation they are, they have to play the more popular stuff all the time. I would love to see Atom Heart Mother, but they'd go bust if they put on a tour with that sort of setlist so realistically, it isn't going to happen.

You're obviously right about needing to attract punters and keep them coming back therefore playing what most punters probably want to hear is the way it has to be ... but sneaking in something a li'l 'unusual' every now again would still be a good thing I reckon. I was *really* surprised (and very happy !) to hear Atom Heart Mother on the recent W1P live webcast and despite the fact that the majority of peeps actually at the gig had probably never heard it before, I thought it fitted in brilliantly and it was great to have something a bit different along with all the expected stuff. OK, so the purists no doubt wouldn't agree because it was an abridged version and not the 'real thing' so to speak but 'unusual' in small doses has to be a good thing doesn't it ? For education purposes if nothing else ! Defo think it's time Echoes had another outing tho, the Aussies do it pretty d@mn well and it's been way too long since I've heard it live.
