TOPIC: Nottingham gig

Nottingham gig 2 years, 1 month ago #1

Hi everyone!

I'm new here, but I've been lurking for a while now. So, I'm a massive Floyd fan, but this is the first time I will be seeing TAPFS, and I was wondering, do the arena shows they put on generally sell out (or come close to selling out)? At the moment, it looks as though there aren't that many tickets being sold for the Nottingham show, perhaps because it is the band's first time there, I dunno.

In my experience all the stadium gigs tend to be at least 80-90% to capacity. prague was a sell out and belfast is usually not far off - getting busier each year. I think I speak for most people when I say that when you've been once, you'll take any opportunity to return so on that principle crowds grow year on year. Either way my friend, you are an for an absolute treat!

As seamusjbyrne says, the stadium gigs seem to get busier each year.  I am going to Nottingham this year for the first time, but previously have always seen them at the NIA.  My first year, 2006, I would guess about 60-70% of the seats were occupied (taking into account a sometimes fickle memory!), '07 probably about 70-80%.  I didn't go in '08, but last year I would guess near enough a sell out.  At each gig I have been to at the NIA, people were buying tickets on the night, so this may also happen at this gig.

Even if only half the seats are occupied, I think we will be in for a great night!

I presuming that the arena will be split with a black curtain, so reducing the capacity to around 4000 seats. This is what TAPFS have previously done at Birmingham NIA and Sheffield arena.  Should be a good night all the same, the first time the band has played Nottingham Arena.

So you guys don't think that a half-empty arena will detract from the atmosphere on the night?

It doesn't feel half empty when half of it is cordoned off and the audience is all together in the orher half. It will be loads better than the crappy acoustics in the Nottingham RCH.
