TOPIC: Manchester MEN Arena

Manchester MEN Arena 2 years ago #1

Another great night by the Aussies. Great sound, fab new projections & lighting & I loved theme for the first half which was an animated Skippy choosing different Floyd records putting them onto a turntable then the band took over, great idea by Damian.

Nice to here a couple of tracks off Animals & also High Hopes & Careful with That Axe Eugine which we have not heard them do for ages.

I never get bored off this band yes we have heard these songs a million times but the perfection from all band members including sound, lighting & animators is just spot on they never disappoint to keep it fresh.

The crowd was a bit dead but that's Manchester for you. Not too many people bringing back 35 pints in one hand so at least no stupid Pi** heads talking or fighting.

The yellow coats are very keen at Manchester as soon as you took your camera out they were over you like a rash so sorry no pictures to upload.

Nice to meet Ian off this forum well done Ian for spotting us talking to Gareth in the interval.

Nice to meet some off the gang afterwards to have a chin wag & a couple of beers so thanks Damian, Ian, Ola, Gareth & Johanna c u in Liverpool in July.

Was at the MEN last night for a superb gig.

Took along with us a mate for his first Aussie Pink Floyd show and he was blown away by the whole show. I thought the set list was spot on, my highlights were the amazing guitar solo at the end of Pigs and Us and Them which was just perfect. Also great to hear Careful with that axe. Actually the whole gig was a highlight!!!!.

I agree that the staff at the MEN were far to keen and actively stopped people enjoying themselves, I would rather they stop people constantly getting up and bringing beer and disturbing people who go to listen and watch the show.

Like the other venues on this tour it wasn't as well attended as previous shows, in these difficult times about £40 per ticket (when you take into account the disgraceful amount charged for booking fees) is I think the reason why, surely it's better to fill an arena with lower prices than have large areas empty. The atmosphere would improve greatly, having said all that it did not stop my enjoyment ONE BIT!!!!!!!!!!!

Roll on next year.

First time at an Aussie Floyd show. Awesome. Will definitely try to catch them at Shrewsbury on May 28.
