Will Waters' NA tour interfere with TAPFS tour plans? 2 years ago #1

Forgive me if there's already a topic about this... I tried to find one and didn't, so I feel pretty safe asking.

First off, let me say that I always look forward to seeing TAPFS in the fall and hope they'll be back this year as they have over the last several years.

I'm also delighted that Roger Waters will be touring North America this fall.  I've always wanted to see The Wall done right (no offense, Aussies, y'all did an awesome job, but this is the man who created it).  I have my tickets already and spent a pretty penny on them, too (I'll be going to the Houston and Dallas shows).

Although Waters' dates have already been announced, and I feel certain that the Aussies know better than to book a show in the same city as Waters on the same night, I kind of wonder how this might affect their planning.  Will they have to start on the other side of North America from Waters?  Will they start a few weeks later and follow the same path?  How close will they be on a given night?  For instance, it would be a shame for me if the night Waters played in Houston, TAPFS was playing in Dallas, and vice versa.  Then I'd miss my chance to see the Aussies (unless, of course they played OKC the next night, and I'd be there with bells on).

Anyone else consider this?  ???

I too hope we can get feed back. Even though Roger is coming to town I am still hoping for the Fall run in NA.  Roger is NY early/mid October. So it would be perfect if our Aussies came in November.

the snippet is under 40 reasons to be excited about music. NO 18 tribute bands are sometimes better than the real thing: these four acts are keeping the flame alive, long after their musical heroes have stopped talking to one another.  it has listed TAPFS, THE FAB FAUX, THE MUSICAL BOX AND BADFISH.  it is broken down into 4 categories: name and inspiration, authenticity, competition, meeting their idols.

n&i: a meticulous re-creation of peak floyd that plays dark side of the moon and animals straight through, and has been known to restage the 1980-81 wall tour.

a: guitarist steve mac perfectly mimics david gilmour's tone. after 20 years, the floyd sound "just comes out naturally," says keyboard player jason sawford. bonus: flying pigs and lasers.

c: the band is avoiding booking dates near roger waters' 2010 tour, out of respect. but it believes in its mission: "for truly great bands like pink floyd, you need interpreters to play the music," says keyboardist sawford.

mti: they were hired to perform at gilmour's 50th birthday party in 1996. at the end of the night, gilmour and richard wright joined them for "money."
