Hi guys,
This is my first EVER post, so please be gentle with me. I've been reading this forum with interest following recent events and wanted to get my facts straight before making any observations. I, personally am very excited about the forthcoming British Pink Floyd Show world tour, since my husband and I have seen this lineup for the past 2 years in the US, touring as TAPFS. From what I have read, I believe that this lineup will also tour the States this fall and am very excited about seeing them again.
However, I've just been onto the Aussie's new site and found it a little odd that under the Reviews section, two of the three reviews (Hartford CT and Manchester NH) are actually reviews of the new "British Floyd" band, since that very lineup toured New England in 2008 during The Wall tour. We came to both of these shows and there were no Aussies, apart from perhaps the keyboard player. Given the that Aussie's latest press release and logo is pretty much a carbon copy of the British Floyd's which came out weeks before, it would appear that the Aussie's are either suffering from a serious lack of imagination or deliberately trying to confuse fans by taking credit for the British Floyd's achievements, both past and future.
No doubt I'll be shot down in flames for making this statement, but I have seen both lineups here in the US and greatly preferred the younger and far less static brits both last year and during The Wall tour. The musicianship and attention to detail was second to none and they really seemed to be enjoying themselves, rather than painting by numbers, which is often the case with tribute acts.
I also cannot understand why people on here seem to have such a b*ner for "Real Aussies" or "The original line up" all of a sudden. Musical ability and showman(and woman)ship aside, APFS and BPFS are tribute bands at the end of the day, not the real Pink Floyd. It's a SHOW and from what I understand, there were only ever 3 Australians in the band since they begun touring over here! You wouldn't go and see a production of Chicago in London and complain that the cast weren't natives of Chicago, would you?
I imagine the vast majority of members here have personal relationships with the band and so are unable to form unbiased opinions. This certainly appears to be the case on the Aussie's new forum, which is why I am writing here instead.
