Honestly, I really don't see two competing Pink Floyd tribute bands of the same basic nature working out. Like Highlander, there can only be one, IMHO.

Now to which one that will be is left to be seen.

The Aussies already have a website, have dates in Poland and are most of the original members (with the original name).

The Brits don't have a website (only a splash page), have European tour dates, and don't have any of the original members, but do have the original promoters.

And to confuse things, the Brits will be playing the US with the Aussie name. I just hope they don't try to sabotage the Aussie name on the US tour and try to push the Brit version for 2011. I think allowing them to tour with the Aussie name will be a bad idea. Not that they'll do anything, but there has already been some sabotage of the Aussie namesake, so who knows.

Honestly, even if they do play in my area, I think I am going to skip it this year because there's too much drama between the two bands at this point and I'd really hate for my Pink Floyd experience to be ruined by it.

I guess I'll see one or the other in 2011, and we shall see who survives then as well.

Why skip them this time around? The general audience probably has no clue about what we've been reading here these past few weeks. They will see the same band we've been seeing these past few years. The only beef I had with last years tour was that lasers were promoted and we didn't get any. The musicianship was still there.

They are professionals. Do you really think they would openly sabotage the Aussies? I can't see Damian saying over the PA system, "thanks for coming out, oh by the way, next year we will be called The British PF Show!" Leave that to the promoters.

Couldn't agree more...my brother has been seeing them on a yearly basis since 2000 and still couldn't tell you Damian from Steve...or care for that matter being honest...it's about the music..Sh*t happens so as someone said somewhere else in this forum lets get back to this forum being about FUN and semi-meaningful discussions not "my bands better than yours" etc. Issues raised, loyalties stretched but it's not my problem or is it 99.9 % of the fans who go to see the band(s).

Just wait for Liam Gallagher's Oasis and Noel Gallagher's Newasis to go head to head!! ;D

From the looks of the tour dates, it may not matter because there aren't even any dates in my state at this point, much less my area.

But, considering that someone has already sabotaged the Aussie Floyd account on YouTube, there's no telling what the promoters will do.

Not sabotaged, edited, the videos are up on the Aussies site. As usual the 2010 N.A. tour will go off in spectacular fashion. There's no need for the Brits to sabotage anything, they're all many people here know anyway, it'll be just a name change for many on this side of the pond.
As a forum we're trying to discourage speculation about who did what to whom and when, who is better, who is right or wrong. Until some of the band members talk openly it's all speculation and we know they won't because they shouldn't. As Steven Tyler once said, "Let the music do the talking". I concur.

I for one wish all concerned a healthy and prosperous future. Sadly I don't think the APFS are doing Vancouver this fall, and the closest to me is Seattle and i'm busy doing family stuff that weekend....drats!

But Roger is doing Vancouver in Oct........he he he  ;D
