Having seen the last three performances from APF in NY over the last three years (Beacon Theater, Roseland and Hammerstein) I was looking forward to another spectacular show.
After getting an early morning call that the show was moved from the Hammerstein Ballroom to the Gramercy Theatre, did not know what to expect from the show....obviously not enough tickets were sold to fill HB so the show was moved to a MUCH smaller and uncomfortable venue.
The band was tight enough and the music was a selection of Floyd hits that does not disappoint. The vocals (all the Waters parts) lacked the depth and edge of other performances but the crowd seemed to enjoy the set. Gone from the show also were the usual dynamic light show, video images and special effects that make this band a true replica of PF.
Most disappointing however was the overall content of the show, not only was it uncomfortable to have to stand through the show (after having purchased seating tickets months in advance) but the band decided to combine the usual two set into an extended set, leaving out many songs that they are performing during this leg of the tour
APF is a good band that usually put on a great show and leave fans wanting to come back for more, this time they left NY leaving the fans that came out and supported them feeling a little bit cheated. Hopefully next time around they will take the loyal fans into consideration.
