TOPIC: Tribute Bands

Tribute Bands 4 years, 7 months ago #1

Having watched last night's documentary about the Limelight Club in Crewe, I'm so glad the Aussies don't go in for all that dressing up and wigs malarkey  :
Going on what I saw, I would like to go to see Limehouse Lizzy. They played at the Cambridge Rock Festival didn't they? Any good?
The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think...

Yeh, Limehouse Lizzy were impressive on last nights program, I too don't go for the wigs ETC, I want the music played as accurately as possible to the original artist, not someone that looks like them but don't sound like them!!!

I went to see a Gun's and Roses tribute band in a small leisure center and they were terrible, had the wigs and clothes ETC but sounded dreadful. Half the band were pissed and the singer lost his wig half way through the gig, it was a laugh but that was all it was any good for.

Sounds like the real G&R.
Hanging on in quiet desperation.....

I was impressed with Limehouse Lizzy as well.

I think that any small-time tribute bands playing down at your local "Dog n Duck" in front of 20 people probably have to go for the wigs etc to look like the band they're playing in order to have any kind of credibility these days.

Not sure if the Aussie ever did go for the look in the early days or not - I get the impression that they didn't but even if they did they're way way beyond that stage now.
