I didn't really know where else to put this, so mods, if you feel the need to move it to a more appropriate section, by all means, be my guest. Technically it's not a "tribute band" but it isn't "non-Floyd-related" either. It's a laser light show. A
CRAPPY one! >
Where should I begin? Well, for the first half they played Dark Side Of The Moon (the actual cd), which was cool... except for that the lasers weren't really aimed at the screen where they were supposed to be, but at the floor instead where almost nobody could see them. About halfway through breathe, you could see them trying to adjust it, with little success. The laser "picture" was nothing but a non-animated box with a "1" in the center (which apparently had to do with the size of the box, because when they were trying to adjust it, the number changed to "2", but not until halfway through "On The Run". By now, you can probably see where this is headed. :G Well, right about the time they got the laser working correctly (about 2/3 of the way through "Time"), I discovered that about half the people in my row weren't sitting where they were supposed to be (in other words they just sat anywhere). They started climbing over each other, comparing tickets, and needing me to get up, of course, so that the seat thieves could get out (several times--and this went on and on and on throughout the show).
At the end of Dark Side Of The Moon, they turned on the lights for a 20-minute intermission (I have no idea why... it's not like there was a band playing or anything). During this break, the intercom started playing cheesy "Christian Rock"
(nothing against Christians, but gimme a friggin break). The first song of the second half started playing before the lights even went down--at the same volume as the intermission music had been playing. This was "The Show Must Go On"--A lousy opener! This flowed nicely into "In The Flesh" but then they trainwrecked it abruptly to play ABITW2. Later on, they started the flower animation for Empty Spaces, which would have been cool, except for that they cut it just as the vocals were about to come in, and switched to Comfortably Numb!!!! Later still, they cut off the entire intro to Shine On, and during WYWH they showed a picture of John Lennon BEFORE SHOWING SYD BARRETT!!!!

No shit!!! Then they started showing all of these dead celebrities much to my disgust. :G Completely took away all of the meaning of the song.
Finally, they ended w/ "One Of These Days" in which they inflated this really flimsy windsock which looked a bit like a torn quilt someone dragged out of the dumpster in the back.
When the lights came on, the dorko announcer made a really lame, stupid pun and said "See you laser!!!" huh huh huh! *slap* *slap* :
Anyhow, the show has gone WAY downhill since I saw it several years ago. Ultra cheap-o!! They didn't even give us 2 pairs of glasses this time... just the 1 pair which distorts everything and gives you a headache. Needless to say, I won't be going to see the Paramount Laserspectacular ever again. Two thumbs way down, Paramount!
I FEEL CHEATED!
