TOPIC: The Irish Pink Floyd Show

The Irish Pink Floyd Show 1 year, 9 months ago #1

Went to see these guys in Galway a few weeks ago.

None of them look over 25, their website hasn't been updated in a year, I didn't have HIGH HOPES.

Was quite pleasantly surprised in some ways - they call themselves the "only official Irish Floyd tribute", they had some screens from Pulse & The Wall.
While they played a bit too much Wall for me, they also played  a lot of Division Bell, bits of Moon &-a very pleasant surprise- a large chunk of Dogs.

It's important to keep the level of this band in perspective - a decent young garage band & no more than that. I'm not sure they fully appreciate the value of the small details in the original material, they still have a long way to go in regard to stage presence.....but hey, how often do you get to watch a guy doing vocals on Great Gig??  ;D

Anyway, they're out there & gigging. In all honesty I'd only go see them if they were playing locally, but as pub bands go - they weren't the worst!

Interesting what makes a band the only official tribute in their country? Good to hear that youngsters are out there to carry the torch.

Don't know, Ian. I was hoping to get a few words with them post-gig, but they ran away from some of Galways' finest drunk young men, who wanted to hear more Floyd but couldn't think of any song titles! :
I suspect they've asked (Floyd management?) for permisssion to use a few logos & screenshots & maybe got the ok.

But yeah, nice to see some young fellas playing Floyd, even though I'm not sure they quite grasp the dynamics of the original. I'm sure they'll learn as they mature though, quite looking forward to seeing them again around Christmas.
