Well, my brother and I went to the show last night at the SOhO in Santa Barbara California. W1P were in a very small intimate venue and only used a small fraction of the gear they have to put on a large Floyd show. But the musicians are the same as a large show, and the playing of the music was first rate as easily could be seen by the enthusiastic and fun loving crowd. They opened with WYWH in it's entirety, and closed with all sorts of favorites. The show was plenty long, and most enjoyable. I got home to LA at 3am and will write some more later.
On a personal note, I want to say something about our collective friend Dan, or as many of know him here on this form as W1P.
Dan is one great guy who loves what he does, and enjoyed every minute of the concert just as much as we in the crowd all did. Singing along with all of us and nipping up onto the stage to provide the odd vocal bits that Floyd music is full of. Dan is a larger than life character who's enthusiasm is infectious to all around him. This trait of his is very evident here on this forum, and he is just the same in person as he comes across here! Dan provides the world Pink Floyd tribute community with an invaluable web site, "Pink Floyd Online". Thanks for that Dan. Also the band members of W1P are all dedicated to putting on a great Floyd show and they clearly do that with passion and fun. The fun they have on stage is obvious....and infectious. One look at the crowd response and involvement tells you that this band really has it together. "Tali", who sings GGITS made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck, and this was a shared experience with the crowd. My brother who works everyday behind the scenes in the music industry, and is not as easily impressed as most ordinary music lovers, and has a wealth of working background in the music world, said that he loved the show every bit as much as the Roger Waters show he went to see in Hyde Park/London. While the W1P show was a small, intimate, and not as complex equipment wise as the Roger show, musically the W1P show was just as enjoyable. Thanks to all of you we had a fun filled night.
Cheers Dan, I look forward to our next meeting!
