TOPIC: Mihalis takes in W1P in Anaheim on Friday the 13th

Mihalis takes in W1P in Anaheim on Friday the 13th 3 years, 2 months ago #1

Now the second tributehub (formerly nonaussie) member has seen W1P in the flesh.  Looking forward to his reaction -- we had a bit of an obscure set last night!

I just happened to be in LA on business for two weeks and found out Which One's Pink? was playing at the House of Blues in Anaheim... Of course I had to check 'em out.  I was lucky enough to meet Dan prior to the show as well (by the way, man, the CD is awesome).  Anyhow, less rambling and more review...

It was an incredible show--probably the best set list I've ever heard--no joke.  I was enjoying myself far too much to bust out a pen and paper and write down every song in order, but some of the highlights were Cymbaline, Fearless, Echoes and The Final Cut (seldom performed by tribute bands--at least most of the ones I've heard).  The light show was lacking but it's clear that's not what these guys were going for, and the performance more than made up for it.  Of course the set also included old favorites like Wish You Were Here, Time, and Another Brick In The Wall (part 2).  To wrap things up at the end, they played Comfortably Numb, followed by an encore of Run Like Hell.  The band was very accurate and sounded much like the real thing, and Dan did a nice job supplying the voices, sound effects, and crazy laughs heard in many of the tracks (i.e. Run Like Hell).  Maybe it was just my imagination, but I could swear I heard Dan do a shout out to "John from Texas" during "Run Like Hell."  Thanks, man.  Mad props!!  ;D

Ashes and diamonds, foe and friend...we were all equal in the end.

Hey thanks for the nice words!  It was great meeting you too -- I love these surprise "internet friend" meetups -- it does show the world shrinking in a good way.  Actually I shouted out during Brain Damage instead of "I can't think of anything else to say"  -- "I heard there's this guy from the notaussiefloyd site John from Texas here" followed by insane laughter!  >

Where's mikinik been?  A webcast would seem perfect for him up there in the Great White North.  Beauty, eh?
