I have never before made my technique known to the general public.
I do this at risk, knowing that once my secrets are published, many more of you will be able to shoot great photos of Which One's Pink.
I am willing to take that risk because what's good for the fans is good for Which One's Pink?!
Here then are the secrets to great photo shooting at a Which One's Pink? concert:
1 - Arrive early. It is usually good to arrive at the time doors open. Order a double vodka-rocks/lime (Grey Goose).
2 - Case the joint. Look for your angles and sweet spots to shoot from. Order a Guinness.
3 - Have a seat at the bar and clean the lenses with a professional lens cleaning cloth. Order another Guinness. It's too soon for another double vodka-rocks.
4 - Step backstage and greet the band. Shake hands, drop off the camera bag, and snag a Bud Lite from the fridge.
5 - Wander. Send a txt message or two. Say hi to a few regulars.
6 - Step out front and clip the end of a cigar (I really enjoy the CAO Brazila), and enjoy.
7 - Step back inside. Now's a good time for another double vodka-rocks/lime. By now it doesn't much matter if it's Grey Goose or generic.
8 - Once the band begins to play, shoot a dozen or two photos of John Stack playing guitar, singing, smiling, walking, scratching his head, tuning, etc.
9 - Get just a few photos of the other blokes. Don't forget Dan in his skivvies.
10 - Finish up with another few dozen John Stack images, standing on his head, doing a pirouette, smashing his Strat a la Ritchie Blackmore.
11 - Do not drive home under any circumstances.
