What a sad story. There's a wikipedia page at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Gilbert.

The video is excellent.

I was fortunate to be introduced to Kevin Gilbert through a good friend from pfo and gilmost from PFX who sent me a copy of the DVD. The opening of The Lamb features Gilbert walking on stage to a boombox playing Invisible Touch (I think) which he promptly throws in a garbage bin and smashes. Fabulous!

By the way, Guy Pratt was the bass player in Toy Matinee.  Gilbert is well known for many things -- Tuesday Night Music Club with Sheryl Crow, a smoking cover of Kashmir, The Shaming of the True (completed post-mortem by Nick D'Virgilio of Mike Keneally's band and Spock's Beard and A Fair Forgery of Pink Floyd), playing in a band with Russ Parish of the Atomic Punks and Metal Skool, a great cover of Back in NYC featuring a trumpet and Mike Keneally, and an amazing version of Siberian Khatru also featuring Mike Keneally.  So the lesson in all this?  But a copy of A Fair Forgery of Pink Floyd or at least download Keneally's version of Astronomy Domine from iTunes!
