When ever I listen to Dark side I always have the room in darkness and have the surround system up to full volume and usually have a really cold beer and sit back and relax.
How does everyone else listen to Dark side when they want to escape the world?

I go with the martini method, anytime, anywhere, anyhow!

But I agree, to get the full effect and the whole mood altering thing going on, I go for total solitide, a great sound system and darkness.

I bought the special 5.1 DSoTM when it first came out and not until now have I been able to listen to it in 5.1. Bloody hell it's great!

that sounds like a good way to listen to DSOTM, if you would ask me I actually dont mind at the moment, as long as its gilmour playing I am in a great mood and chilled out. But I used to listen to it whilst being in a narcotically intoxicated state shall we say haha! and that was awesome, but nevertheless now I realise that its the best with just listening to it anywhere and just "indulging in floyd" as the lovely mommapink would say

I always like 'On the run' with surround sound.

Now not that I'm against this so don't get me wrong, but I prefere to listen to Floyd straight. I tried it stoned many many years ago when I was young, but much prefer to enjoy Floyd in a unaltered state of mind.

When your stoned.....your mind takes over the music and makes it into something that your mind wants.

When your unaltered, the music takes over your mind and takes you places that it wants.

yes bob i agree totally! being in liverpool UK going to the summer pops you always see a lot of people doing the doobies taking sneaky tokes in between the lightshows of money etc, and there was a time i would say yes thats cool, but now i agree with you bob, I just think that listening to it straight being chilled out if it being just sitting down or witha  nice frosty drink, is the greatest feeling of all and really indulging in floyd as debby would say
