Both of these albums will be 20 years old next year  .
What are your thoughts on them after all these years?
Have they stood the test of time?
Do you still listen to them?

My personal opions...
I think both are weak. Whilst KAOS was more interesting, it has not stood the test of time and now sounds very dated (too much Fairlight?).

I hated AMLOR almost from the outset, I had only been listening to Floyd for about 2 years and was really looking torward to it. I wanted to like it so much, but tracks like 'The Dogs of War', 'One Slip' and 'On the Turning Away' sound cheesy and forced, the latter seems to have been specifically written for a cigarette lighter in the air moment..
It does have a few decent moments (mainly Terminal Frost), but generally I don't rate it highly.

Now I'd say AMLOR is the best of the two, mainly down to live experiences of Sorrow + Learning to Fly,  but I'd put them both at the bottom of the pile in my  Floyd/Waters/Gilmour ranking.

I know all of that sounded very negative, but this is based on a comparison to  previous and subsequent works (Ca Ira excluded, words cannot describe that one)

Kaos is well dated and you can tell the era it's from by the backing singers/sax/keyboard styles. I prefer Project Kaos, the unofficial longer album.

Some good stuff on AMLOR, again though, not my favourite.

hmmm AMLOR is only good for sorrow i feel oh and dogs of war, not the most exciting of gilmour albums, division bell being a good 5 times better! kaos is a waters album i havent heard at all, i think i have it on vinyl from back in the day from my uncle with the radio kaos 80's computer writing on it!
Guitar playing, Gilmour loving, psychological, philosophical individual

I like msot of MLOR, but KAOS makes me cringe, Roger, you're better than that.

I think each of Roger's solo albums were improvements over the previous effort. Personally, I like KAOS, but it needs to be fleshed out with the extra songs that didn't appear on the album to really get the jist of it.

AMLOR has some good bits, but Dogs of War, Yet Another Movie...just aren't my faves. Love the instrumentals, On the Turning Away (especially the first live version they released on single), and Sorrow. Learning to Fly is...ok...but not as strong as other songs. And I never understood why they didn't blend the end of Learning To Fly with Dogs of War, when they have the same sound effect at the end/beginning (respectively). It would have worked well.
