Did anyone else see the article in The Review section of The Mail on Sunday about the auction of Syd's possessions?

The article was written by David Sore, Syd's neighbour for 25 years, and it's an interesting but sad read.

The auction last week raised ?119,000, with items such as 'Syd's chair' fetching ?1100, his artificial christmas tree with decorations ?800 and his garden wheelbarrow in a customised green paint job ?400. Apparently he left ?1.2 million in his will.

The article goes into some detail about life with Syd as your neighbour, not an altogether joyful experience if David Sore is to be believed, and the final sentence says, "I'm sorry he's dead - but I won't miss him". That's sad and I'm sorry that I read it. I just prefer to remember Syd for the wonderful legacy that he gave us with his genius talent.

Ive seen articles in my daily paper about the clamour to spend wild amounts of money on Syd's possesions.
It all leaves me feeling cold.

same here bigdog, he's only been dead a short while and already everyone wants his belongings, what about the family? even though there was 1.2 million left, there is no sentimental value in that

Who do you think are selling them?

Don't believe everthing you read in newspapers, they tend to exaggerate. Jon, his family sold his stuff.
Are we nearly there yet?

Snap!

His family can expect no sympathy if they sell it all off.  They could easily have just burned the lot of it, or kept it for themselves.
