TOPIC: A Saucerful of Secrets

A Saucerful of Secrets 5 years, 4 months ago #1

My favorite Floyd album...out of the ten studio albums I bought this one has hit me the hardest, and has had the most impact on me.....this is the first album where I have truly liked every song, and even the one i like the lease still has great moments in it.....where to start...

Let there be light- what a great freaking way to start the album, i cant believe nobody told me about this song before, great bass line, great groove to it, and I love how Rick and David take turns and the way you can hear Roger whispering in the background....even through the lyrics in this one are a little abstract the music more then makes up for it....

Remember a Day- Now i have read I believe that Rick's songs on this album arent that great on hear but I love this song. I love the slide guitar by Mr.Gilmour....I like the tempo of this song very much....a greatsolid 2nd song

Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun - Might be the best song on the album, I saw Roger perform this live a few months ago and it sounded great live....great atmospehre on the song....I like what Nick is doing on this also....classic and deserves to be on Echoes.....Rogers limited voice is perfect for this song....

Corporal Clegg-Love this song, and the guitars on this are fantastic, I been told David is the lead singer on this track but I swear I can hear Roger and Rick on the chrous....at least Rick.....the kazoo is pretty interesting on this song, and it fits it just kind of took me by surprise. Its a pretty good rocking tune....

A Saucerful of Secrets- Probably my least favorite song on the album and I hear the live version is better....I do like the last 4 mintues of the song with the organ and Davids voice....its a good song just not my favorite on the album.....compared to some of the other instrumentals I have heard on other albums I would prefer some of those, but like I said, the last4-5 mintues with the organ is wonderful.

See-Saw- I LOVE THIS SONG.....lyrics are ok but it sounds so beautiful, and a kind of cheeeeeesy way but I dont care, I love it and  I know it isnt look on to well by some of the members of Floyd but I think it s a great song, I love the pace of the song....just a great song IMO

Jugband Blues- This song makes me feel sad, but I do like it....i saw the promo video they did for it and Syd seems so out of it and that made me feel sad too....its a great song, and it seems to show his state of mind, I mean who in the hell brings the salvation army to come play on a song....but it is a great song, dont know if it deserves to be on Echoes but I see why David put it on there...right after Wish You Were Here

Well I love this album and its better then "piper" I believe.....I'm surprise this album dosent get more attention, Maybe in the wake of Syd being booted out all the attention was focused on that and not on the music....

Ah, you finally bought one of their best.  I'd have put this one higher up the list of priorities myself ...

Absolutely, their earlier albums are far superior (but I do like AMLOR).

People who like AMLOR - isn't that a kind of onomatopoeia?

Well, I guess that's my reasoning for it then!
It's also almost an anagram of my name.

onomatopoeia

Sorry Lorna I can only see three letters out of your name  but it does almost make tomato, is that what was confusing you?
