Well, that was fun.

I'm not sure where to begin so I may leave the review of the actual music to someone else (Sue, Remy, Phil, Ben, Lorna) and I'll fill in my own observations afterwards.

I see SirensCry asked about the EC camera policy - there doesn't appear to be one.  Everyone was standing/dancing in the aisles with the camera phones/compact digitals out and the stewards ignored them.  They even let people stand on their seats.  They do do bag checks on the way in, so don't bring an SLR.

It's money well spent as you'll discover.  Not for the people sat behind us though.  They comprised a dad, his new girlfirend and his VERY surly teenage son, who spent the ENTIRE evening with his iPod on full volume with his hoodie over his head and bent over double in his seat.  They had an argument at half time too which I assume was about dad's new bird.  How the fuck he could listen to his suicide music over the sound coming from the PA I'll never know.

I won't spoil it for anyone going tomorrow night by mentioning all the "effects" that make an appearance, although the animations and graphics on the back screen are the best I've seen for any show.  If only APF could afford them ...

Graham Broad's rototoms on Time were a revelation.  Whilst Bonney builds up gently to the drum intro, Broad was in full solo mode, thrashing them to death.  As they were located to the side of his kit and he had to stand to play them, he finished it off by edging back to his stool still playing them, as if his mum were dragging him out of a music shop by the scruff of his neck.  Made Ben and me laugh anyway.

We're up in the top seats tomorrow night so we'll get a good view of the action, instead of being stuck in the flat seats which are a bit short on legroom and width.  The atmosphere is very Summer Pops-like with people up and down all the time and a lot of drunk/stoned people dancing to Fletcher and that sort of thing.

Thanks Larry. Roger actually sing this time right? I remember the Rock in Rio lip syncing video from last year and how he struggled....
Hanging on in quiet desperation.....

I think it's a well-known fact that he mimes to a few songs.  He almost certainly did on Fletcher, Sheep and maybe one other but I think we're stuck with it.  I don't have a problem with it - he's getting on a bit and he was never the greatest singer.

And as Fossil said, "I'd rather hear Roger mime than hear him not mime" (or something like that).

Work that one out
